"THE CHAOS OF CLOSING"
There are over 1000 men and women who are the ALUMNI ofNLHS. From the first graduating class in 1924 until the final class of1994, all have special memories of their high school years. Teachersand staff of those years also share in those experiences of life in asmall town. Sports, music, drama, friendships, and high schoolsweethearts are part of the memories for many.
Graduates of NLHS have gone on from here to find work andcareers in all fields around the world as well as here in North Dakota. We can be proud of, and thankful for, the education received here.
We thank all of those who have served on the School Board, andthe many Administrators, Teachers, and staff who have given of theirtime and talents to our school system.
We wish the best to our students in Kindergarten through grade 8who will continue in New Leipzig. We welcome the students from theElgin District in grades seven and eight who join us next year. Weknow our students in grades nine through twelve will be welcomedinto the New Elgin/New Leipzig High School at Elgin.
All-School Reunions for New Leipzig are planned for every tenyears, with the next one to be held June 30, July I and 2, 1995. Wehope many will come home to celebrate New Leipzig's 85th An-niversary at that time.
To New Leipzig High School - "Thanks for the memories."Shirley Roehl, Annual AdvisorNLHS Graduate
This annual is dedicated tothe final year of New LeipzigHigh School. The opposite pagecontains pictures of the lastSenior Class, the last Staff, thelast Tiger Basketball team, andthe last Annual Staff.
This page if proof that clos-ing the high school madeeverything go "crazy."
So what was the cause of allthis chaos? We asked Mr.Bentz if he knew what theproblem was, but he didn'thave a clue. Rhamie Hauckfound the situation very sick-ening, but Mrs. Hintz just hadto laugh. The situation wors-ened when Brian Mueller hada brush with death (in a skit);so why is everyone laughing? The picture of Jed Korth andKelly Hochhalter, who bychance dressed as twins, speaks for itself.
In closing, we hope to makesome sense of this situationthrough this year's Annual. Wehope you enjoy the"FAREWELL ANNUAL" ofN.L.H.S.Co-editors, Aaron Achtenberg
& Craig Okken

SENIORS'NEW YORK TRIP
Quotes about the trip:Aaron A. Show was O.K., could have been better. Wish we could have kept the denimshirt. Crew at show was nice.Aaron F. Subway ride was different, I'd rather be on my motorcycle. Ellis Island waskind of neat, would be nice to know more about relatives.Matt H. I really like the subway. Statue of Liberty was tiring but fun.Cody H. Craig & I will come back after we graduate. It was a good day. I wanted tokeep the Bugs Bunny leather jacket.Kary H. Met some cool people. Sick of crosswalks. Very sick of paying $10 a meal.Statue of Liberty was really cool, glad I got to see it.Eric H. I am tired and want to go home. I am sick of paying lots of money for nothing.led K. Glad when show finally over. Kinda disappointed didn't find the right girl afterall the interviewing. Can't wait to get back to N.D.Brian M. Subways smell like they say they do (bathroom like) Seeing plastic sacks forclothes, real sad.Craig O. I think Statue of Liberty should have bigger head. Air Conditioner wouldhave been nice. Subway's make too much noise. NYC skyline is awesome. I likewearing leather pants - NOTLincoln R. Statue of Liberty kinda neat. It was neat to see how many Roth's camethrough the harbor at Ellis Island.Jeff W. Subway not what I expected ---'-no graffiti. I thought the Statue of Libertywould be taller. Ellis Island pretty cool.Mrs. Hintz: The plane landed at Bismarck and we were all very glad we had gone, butvery glad to be home. Bismarck looked so small compared to what we had seen.

The Class of 1994 went to New York City August 28-31, 1993 to beguests on the Montel Williams Show. The producers of the show readabout the class in "USA Today" and wanted to be the first to featurethem on a program. Information about this class of 11 boys appeared in anumber of newspapers.
Pam Hintz, class advisor, and the boys left on their all expense paidtrip on August 28. They arrived at La Guardia Airport during a brief butheavy thundershower. Lincoln Town Cars took them to their hotel,Embassy suites. During this ride, the North Dakotans soon realized thatNew Yorkers are dangerous drivers. Wearing a seat belt is a must! Thehotel was about two blocks from Times Square so the streets were alwaysbusy.
While in New York, they visited many places of interest. On Sundaythey did taping for the show at the Empire State Building and Hard RockCafe. In the evening, they walked to the Rockefeller Center and Radio
City Music Hall.Monday, they ventured out to
Battery Park via the infamous sub-way. From there they rode theferry to see the Statue of Libertyand Ellis Island. Climbing the stat-ue was exhausting due to the heatand humidity, but the excitementof the trip kept everyone going.
Nervousness had set in by Tues-day morning as the production as-sistants came to get the group. Itwas exciting for everyone to beable to enter into the studio andsee how a talk show is done. Theboys finally met some girls theirown age at the show with whomthey got to visit. After the tapingof the show huge amounts of pizzawere consumed by the group andaddresses were exchanged be-tween the group and the girls. Toosoon for some of the guys, it wastime to leave for the airport.
Most of the class will relatestories of the homeless, the smellof the city, the expensive food, andhow little one sees of the sky;however, every one of them is gladto have had the opportunity to seeNew York City. It was a greatadventure for the Class of 1994.

The final year of the "TIGERS" was a good one. Thegames were exciting and good crowds came out to supportand encourage the teams. The usual "rivalry" betweenElgin and New Leipzig added to the fun, and we were ableto defeat the last "DUTCHMEN" team twice before theybeat us in the last game of the District tournament. Bothteams advanced to the Regional tournament and weredefeated there in the first round. Next year we all become"PANTHERS" and look forward to many years of playingtogether.

Laura Swanson Chris Baesler Kary Hertz
Maria Ortega, Cody Hertz, Laura Swanson, Brandon Hertz, Shandi Hertz,Preston Stelter, Kary HertzNew Leipzig has had many fine athletes participating in track
events over the years. This year Kary and Shandi Hertz qualifiedfor the State Meet. Kary, a senior, ran the 3200 meters. Shandi,an 8th grader, took 6th at State in the 1600 meters. She also ranin the 3200 meter run.
Many N.L. athletes took part in the State Track meets over theyears, but few have set STATE records. Joleen Imhoff, whograduated in 1985, set State records in the 100, 200, and 400meter runs. Her record of 57. 19 seconds for 400 meters was setin 1985 and still stands in 1994.
A complete list of N.L. School track records is not available, but hopefully the following list is correct formost of them. New records have been set since the Elgin/N.L.
