NEW HOPE CHRISTIAN CHURCH
GOOD NEWS!
NURTURE, SERVE, CONNECT
April 15,
2019
9: 15 AM Son Rise Service
Lead by the Youth of New Hope Christian Church
“Come just as you are...meet HIM as He is!”
9:45 AM - All Church Easter Breakfast
10:30 AM - Resurrection Sunday Service
Members and friends of New Hope Christian Church will want to be present for the heart stirring presentation of “He Has Over-come.” Under the direction of Marietta Combs and accompanied by Brad Davidson, the cantata seeks to utilize a wide range of musi-cal talent from within our congregation both vocally and instru-mentally. This will be a wonderful opportunity to extend an invi-tation to a friend, a relative or a co-worker to come and experience this unique presentation of the gospel message.
April 18th is a date that you will want to place on your personal calendar. Our thoughts for Maundy Thursday will center on the symbolic actions of Jesus as he met the disciples in the Upper Room. We will all be blessed as we share in a time of worship, thoughtful reflections, and lifting our voices in Song.
Rev. Marilyn Merle, Interim Pastor at Del City Christian Church, and Rev. Steve Chambers from New Hope will be conducting this very meaningful service. We look forward to welcoming members of Del City Christian to share with us in this holy worship service. The service will begin at 6:30 PM.
The quiet moments in the garden, the clamor-ing crowd that came to arrest Jesus, the mock trial, the flogging and insulting of Jesus, the sound of the hammer against the spike...Good Friday. Why do we call it Good when such horrific events took place. Think on these things! The doors of New Hope Christian Church will be open from 7-8p.m for those who desire to come quietly into the Sanctuary for a time of meditation and personal prayer. Communion will be available for those who would desire to partake. You may choose to come and go at a time that works for you and your family.

Learning to Serve “What is a deacon?”, was the question asked in
children's church. After explaining we began to
teach the children not just by words but by exam-
ples as well.
Every 5th Sunday of the month, the children will
serve as deacons and serve our congregation com-
munion and take the morning offering. We have
visited Bradford Village retirement center in Ed-
mond, OK and provided the message of the day
and we sang a song.
This weekend, available children will visit the
VFW in Norman, OK to serve as helpers. As the
Easter season begins, may we embody the spirit of
the season and with the love of Christ in our
hearts, seek more opportunities and ways to serve
others in our daily lives.

What’s Inside
New Hope Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 12323 S. Pennsylvania Ave.
Oklahoma City, OK 73170
As Disciples, we all benefit from the fruit, the gifts, of our general min-istries. These fruits are made possible only through the connections and support that grow in collaboration with our regions and congregations. This Easter, let us reflect on the transformative ways that we have been impacted by those ministries, and by the fruits of our shared work. Our general ministries provide critical resources to Disciples congregations, like stewardship campaign materials, loans and financial services, and space for community building around shared values and traditions. Our ministries can bear these fruits because of our shared root system. We are rooted in Christ. As one branch of our vine grows, we can share more fruit with more people, from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth. This Holy Week let us give of our own fruits to tend to the whole. Our minis-tries grow through your tending, nurturing, and caring. Your gifts to the Easter offering can transform our shared work.
Please give generously to this year’s Easter Offering.
