Hoosier Boys and Girls State. If you are interested in

learning more about what Boys & Girls State is – come to

an informational meeting next Thursday, February 2 in

Room 409( Ms. Kaiser’s room) during SRT. Last year’s

delegates will be there to share their experiences.

The freshman boys basketball team improved to 15-0 with a 70-41 win over

Frankfort Wednesday night. Brent Pennington and Hudson Hochstedler both had 17

points to pace the huskies. Camron Knott had 14 pts. Cory Vonfeldt and Ethan Knoll

The freshmen will play Alexandria at 830 Saturday morning in the 1st game of

the Tipton tournament. The county next Thursday will be at Carmel at 600.

Guidance Announcements

To all students 9-12: The Greater Indianapolis Northside College Fair will be held

on March 15, 2017 (6:30pm-8:30pm) at the 502 East Event Centre (502 East

Carmel Drive) in Carmel Indiana. The event is sponsored by a consortium of high

schools on Indy’s Northside as a way to provide access to college information for

local students. Over 100 colleges/Universities will be represented at the fair.

College fairs are an efficient way to obtain information about many colleges in one

place! The event is free!

Juniors and Seniors: Mrs. Volz and Mr. Towle will be offering an SAT class starting

in February. The course is for juniors and seniors who want to prepare for

upcoming SAT/ACT exams. The classes will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays

starting on February 14th. Please bring cash or a check, to Room 103 or 135, made

out to Mr. Towle or Mrs. Volz by February 9th. The cost of the course is $40.

Seniors: Do you need help filling out the FAFSA? Please feel free to attend College

Goal Sunday on February 12, from 2PM-4PM, at IU Kokomo. The FAFSA will help

college bound students maximize their financial aid! The event will be held at 2300

S Washington Street at the Kelley Center. Please report to the Computer Labs.

Seniors: Over the next 3 months there will be numerous local scholarships to apply

for through the Guidance Office. Winners of these scholarships will be recognized

at Honors Night on May 10, 2017. Please make sure you apply for all scholarships in

a timely manner. Scholarship applications need to be handed into the Guidance

Office by the scholarship application due date! No late scholarship applications

will be accepted. Please make sure to hand your completed applications directly to

Mr. Trachtman. If you have any questions feel free to stop by the Guidance

Office.

accepts applications for their apprenticeship programs including outside lineman,

Are you a highly academic senior who is interested in attending Ivy Tech? The

American Honors program might be of interest to you. This is a nationally-

recognized selective honors program to help students earn bachelor’s degrees from

great schools. Students have transferred from Ivy Tech to attend Standford

University, University of Pennsylvania, and many more top academic

institutions! Please feel free to stop by the Guidance Office to pick up information

about the American Honors program at Ivy Tech.

The Plumbers, Steamfitters and HVAC Service Technicians Local 440 J.A.T.C. is

now accepting applications to their apprenticeship program on a year round basis.

Scholarship Information

The Lions Club Academic Scholarship is open to all seniors who plan to continue

their educational pursuits after high school. Please feel free to stop by the

Guidance Office to pick up an application. All scholarship applications need to be

handed into Mr. Trachtman by March 3, 2017.

The Ryan White Scholarship will be given to a senior from Hamilton Heights High

School pursuing a four year bachelor’s degree (or higher) in one of the following

fields: Health, Medicine, or Education. A minimum of two $1,000 scholarships will

be awarded to students with at least a 3.0 GPA. Please feel free to pick up a

scholarship application in the Guidance Office. All applications need to be handed

into Mr. Trachtman by February 28, 2017.

Are you a Lutheran (Male) who plans to attend Indiana University, Purdue

University, or the University of Illinois in the fall of 2017? The Beta Sigma Psi

Scholarship might be of interest to you. Please see Mr. Trachtman in the Guidance

Office if you would like more information about this scholarship opportunity or go

online at: http://scholarships.betasigmapsi.org. The application deadline is

February 17, 2017.

The 2017 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering $11,000 worth of

scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four year college,

community/junior college, or career school. Simply log on to: www.student-view.com

and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. The

scholarship application deadline is April 22, 2017.

Are you a senior who lives with a parent or guardian who maintains their primary

residential telephone service with Endeavor Communications (Atlanta Exchange)?

The Cedric Ray ($1,000) Memorial Scholarship might be of interest to you.

Applicants must maintain at least a “C” cumulative grade point average. Please feel

The Hamilton County Federated Republican Women’s Club offers a $500

scholarship to a deserving Hamilton County senior who plans to attend college or

university in the fall of 2017. The scholarship selection committee is looking for

seniors who have displayed an interest in the political/legislative process. Please

feel free to pick up a scholarship application in the Guidance Office. The

application deadline is March 15, 2017.

The Stratford, a retirement community located in Carmel Indiana, is proud to

offer the Silver Pen Writing Competition. Silver Pen is a unique opportunity to

bridge the communication gap between older and younger generations. All seniors

who have above a 3.0 cumulative GPA and live within 25 miles of The Stratford are

eligible. There are four monetary prizes awarded: 1st -$1,500,2nd -$1,000, 3rd -

$750, and 4th - $500. For more information or to apply online go to:

Seniors: Are you planning on majoring in Medical Technology, Radiology Technology,

Medical Lab Science, or Cytotechnology? The Phi Beta Psi Sorority Indiana State

Scholarship might be of interest to you. The scholarship is worth $750 annually

March 15, 2017.

The Phi Beta Psi Sorority is proud to present a $400 scholarship to a deserving

HHHS senior. Selection will be based on the following criteria: leadership,

community involvement, scholarship, citizenship, and financial need. Please feel

free to pick up a scholarship application in the Guidance Office. All applications

need to be handed into Mr. Trachtman by March 3, 2017.

The Atlanta New Earth Festival Committee is pleased to present a $1,000, non-

renewable scholarship to a 2017 HHHS graduating senior. The intent of the

scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a student who may not otherwise

receive scholarship aid and has a financial need. Please feel free to pick up a

scholarship application in the Guidance Office. All applications need to be handed

into Mr. Trachtman by March 17, 2017.

The Lions Clubs of District 25-D have established two scholarships for seniors in

high school who are endeavoring to further their education. The amount of each

scholarship is $750. This scholarship is open to seniors living in Blackford,

Delaware, Grant, Hamilton, Howard, Jay, Madison, Tipton, and Randolph counties.

The application deadline is April 10, 2017.

There is a new scholarship opportunity through Legacy Fund! If you are a senior

who has participated in 4H the Kiley Marschand 4-H Scholarship might be of

interest to you. Please feel free to pick up an application in the Guidance

Office. The application deadline is February 7, 2017. If you have completed an

online application through CICF already, you should be able to use much of the

same information (College Cost estimator,etc.)!

Remember all CICF scholarship applications are due by February 7, 2017. There are

still CICF booklets available in the Guidance Office!

The Husky Champions Club will be awarding a $500 scholarship to a deserving male

and female athlete who will be continuing their athletic careers at the Division 2,

3, NAIA, or Junior College level. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA above a

2.0, have a positive mental attitude, shown leadership ability, and

community/school/church involvement. Please feel free to pick up an application in

the Guidance Office. All applications need to be handed into Mr. Trachtman by

March 17, 2017.

The Husky Champions Club, in honor of Chris Elbrecht, will be awarding one male

student athlete (who will be attending college in the fall of 2017 and continuing

their baseball career) a $500 scholarship. Scholarship criteria is: enrolled in a

Division 2, 3, NAIA, or Junior College program, has a cumulative GPA above 2.0, has

shown community/school/church involvement, and has a positive mental attitude

and leadership skills. Please feel free to pick up a scholarship application in the

Guidance Office. All applications need to be handed into Mr. Trachtman by March

17, 2017.

Are you a senior who plans on pursuing a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in the

Engineering field at an accredited institution? The Nick Ozolins $500 Scholarship

might be of interest to you. Nick was a 2010 graduate of Hamilton Heights High

School and was very involved in the Engineering Department. This scholarship was

established to carry on his love he had for the field of engineering and for his

community. Please feel free to pick up a scholarship application in the Guidance

Office. All applications need to be handed into Mr. Trachtman by March 17, 2017.

The Watercolor Society/James C. Lentz ($1,000) scholarship will be awarded to a

high school senior who is pursuing a degree in either fine arts or arts education

from a college, university, or a school of design. The student must graduate from

an Indiana high school before July 1, 2017. Please feel free to pick up a scholarship

application in the Guidance Office. The application deadline is April 1, 2017.

Are you a senior who plans to pursue a career in Health and Human Sciences or a

related field? Areas include majors in departments of: Foods and Nutrition, Family

and Consumer Science, Interior Design, Textile and Clothing Design, Hospitality

and Tourism, Child Development, Consumer Science and Retailing, Nursing, Fitness

and Health, Speech/ Language and Hearing, and Health Sciences. The Hamilton

County Extension Homemaker’s Association awards four $500 scholarships to

students from Hamilton County. This year two additional $500 scholarships will be

awarded to students who plan to major in Elementary Education. Applications can

be downloaded at: www.extension.purdue.Hamilton or feel free to pick up an

application in the Guidance Office. The application deadline is March 1, 2017.

The American Legion Auxiliary Post 341 awards (2) $500 scholarships to seniors

entering a medical related field. Scholarship considerations include: GPA, school

and community involvement, financial need, and applicant’s interest in a chosen

medical profession. Please feel free to pick up a scholarship application in the

Guidance Office. All applications need to be handed into Mr. Trachtman by March

3, 2017.

The Cicero American Legion Post 341 will be awarding scholarships to deserving

seniors this year. The scholarships are in memory of Phil Kaiser-a dedicated

member of the veterans organization and the community. Scholarship consideration

include: dedicated classroom student, school and community involvement, financial

need, applicant’s interest in chosen field, and veteran relationship. Please feel free

cumulative GPA? The Matt Cahill $500 Soccer Scholarship might be of interest to

you. Matthew was wise, athletic, sociable, humorous, and intense-with a wonderful

Are you a senior who plans to major in Secondary or Elementary Education in

college? The Hamilton Heights $500 Faculty Scholarship might be of interest to

you. Please feel free to pick up a scholarship application in the Guidance Office. All

Are you a senior who plans to pursue additional education at a technical or

vocational school (Ivy Tech, Lincoln Tech, Mechanical School, Culinary School,

Welding School, Cosmetology, Logistics, Graphic Design, Electrical/Electronics,

Dental Hygienist, Plumber, Police Officer, Automotive Mechanic). The Cicero

Kiwanis ($1,000) Technical/Vocational Scholarship might be of interest to you.

Cicero Kiwanis ($1,000) Key Club Scholarship might be of interest to you. Please

Seniors: Have you been involved with school and community activities? Do you have

financial need? The Cicero Kiwanis William Conder Two-Year Scholarship might be

of interest to you. The scholarship is for $1,000 the first year and $1,000 for the

second year of college. Please feel free to pick up a scholarship application in the

Guidance Office. All completed applications need to be handed into Mr. Trachtman

in the Guidance Office by February 27, 2017.

Liberty Tax is pleased to announce its first annual scholarship program for seniors.

Please submit an essay on “WHAT LIBERTY MEANS TO ME”. The essay must be

1500 words and be submitted no later than March 1, 2017 to the Liberty Tax

Noblesville location. The submission must also include a cover sheet with your

contact information. There will be three prizes. First place will receive a $1,500

scholarship, second place a $1,000 scholarship, and third place will receive a $500

scholarship. If you have any questions feel free to call Liberty Tax Services at

317-773-0900. There will be a 50% discount for parents (using Liberty Tax

Services) of students who submit an essay.

The Indiana Association of Office Professionals, inc. will present one (1) $1,000

scholarship yearly to an Indiana graduating senior. Applicants must have completed

two or more business courses and plan to major in business at a 2 or 4 year college.

All applicants must have at least a 2.8 cumulative GPA. Please feel free to pick up

an application in the Guidance office. All applications need to be post-marked by

February 5 or emailed by February 10.

Are you a senior who plans to major in agriculture in college? The Co-Alliance

Solutions Scholarship Program might be of interest to you. You must have a parent

or grandparent who is a member of the local cooperative in the Co-Alliance

partnership: Midland, Laporte County Co-op, Frontier, and Excel Co-op. Please feel

free to pick up a scholarship application in the Guidance Office or go online to

download an application at: www.co-alliance.com The application deadline is March 1,

2017.

Are you a senior who plans to major in Art in college? The Visual Arts Major

Scholarship might be of interest to you. Each applicant must submit a portfolio of

original artwork. Please feel free to pick up a scholarship application in the

Guidance Office. The application deadline is February 27, 2017.

The Riverview Health Foundation will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to one

graduating Senior from each of the seven Hamilton County public high schools. A

scholarship committee, selected by each school system, will be responsible for

preliminary student selections. Applicants must plan to pursue a career in the

health care field (Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a medical field, such as

nursing, physical therapy, lab technology, etc.) Dentistry is not applicable.

Applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher. Please feel free to pick up a

scholarship application in the Guidance Office. All applications must be handed

into Mr. Trachtman in the Guidance Office by Friday, March 17, 2017 by 3pm.

The Martin Family Scholarship ($2,000) will be awarded annually to one graduating

Senior interested in pursuing a career in medicine or medical research. Special

consideration will be given to the applicant interested in cancer care or research.

Applications are available in the Guidance Office. All applications need to be

handed into Mr. Trachtman in the Guidance Office by 3pm on March 15th, 2017.

seek two farmer endorsements of their application by February 1, 2017. Learn

Are you a senior interested in majoring in Nursing in college? The Nursing Schools

Almanac has just launched its third annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. Do you have

a track record of academic excellence (particularly in Math and Science) and have

a passion for the nursing profession? This $1,000 scholarship opportunity might be

Seniors: Feel free to stop by the Guidance Office and pick up a CICF (Central

Indiana Community Foundation) Scholarship Guidebook. There are numerous

scholarships that might be of interest to HHHS seniors. The application deadline is

February 7, 2016 for CICF General Application Scholarships.

Carmel American Legion Post #155 will be awarding scholarships to qualified,

graduating seniors from Hamilton County high schools. The Carmel American Legion

Post #155 will focus on progenies of Legion Post #155 members, JROTC

participants, and handicapped students. Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

Please feel free to stop by the Guidance Office to pick up an application. All

applications must be complete and postmarked by March 15, 2017.

The Hamilton County Master Gardener Association is currently accepting

applications for the 2016-17 Barney Hobbs Memorial Horticultural Scholarship. In

commemoration of a founding member of the HCMGA, five $3000 scholarships will

be awarded to high school seniors or college students who are residents of

Hamilton County or a child/grandchild of a HCMGA member. Applicants must

intend to major in Horticulture or a related subject such as agriculture, botany or

landscape architecture/design. Applications are available online at:

www.HCMGA.org or feel free to pick up an application in the Guidance office. The

application deadline is March 15, 2016.

Seniors: The Old Town Design Group, LLC of Carmel believes by investing in the

success of today’s students they are investing in the success of tomorrow’s home

building industry. The Orchard Project Scholarship provides tuition assistance to

a Hamilton County Student preparing for a career in the construction industry.

Students must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a housing related program such

as construction management, residential building, construction technology,

architecture or any construction trade specialties offered by the institution you

plan to attend. Please feel free to pick up a scholarship application in the Guidance

office. The application deadline is March 31, 2016.
