INTRODUCTION

The gall-mites of the Indian Region belQDging to the subfamily Nothopodillae Keifer (1956) have not been studied. In the preseqt paper n new species belonging to 4 genera and one new genus are described from the material collected from different parts of Southern India, recording the subfamily for the fIrst time from the Indian Region.

Colopodacus bcngalensis, sp. nov. (Fig. 1)

This species is near C. a/ricallils Keifer (1960) but can be differentiat~d by the shield pattern, abdominal setal length, smooth tergites and shorter legs.
