We have a 1995 red GT 5.0 convertible. We bought it

from the original owner in 2012 with 20,960 miles on

the odometer. The car took a silver medal at the 2015

National MCA show in Loveland, Colorado, and a gold

medal at the 2016 National in St. Augustine, Florida. It

has also placed in many local shows.

The 1995 is the second year of the fourth generation of

Mustangs. In November 1993, the Mustang debuted

its first major redesign in fifteen years. Code-named

"SN-95" by the automaker for 1994–1998, it was

based on an updated version of the rear-wheel

drive Fox platform called "Fox-4." The new styling by Patrick Schiavone incorporated several styling

cues from earlier Mustangs. For the first time since 1974, a hatchback coupe model was unavailable.

1995 was a great year for sales as they sold roughly 40,000 more Mustangs in 1995 than in 1994. This

is mostly attributed to the fact that the 1994 Mustang came in late in the sales year cycle and therefore

had a shorter sales year.

The 1995 Mustang had a few changes here and there from the previous year. Color changes included

the addition of Sapphire Blue in lieu of Iris Metallic. The 1994 nun themed black and white leather inte-

rior went away too. Small running changes were made to trims and such. One notable item is the re-

vised front cap for the lower rocker trim, which featured a more vertical leading edge. This helped sup-

port the rocker trim and prevent cracking of the front cap as well as helped prevent gravel and mud

from being thrown against the lower door sheet metal.

Big news for 1995 was the addition of the Cobra R version of which only 250 were produced. The 1995

Cobra R was meant for racing and thus had no radio or air conditioning, let alone power accessories or

other heavy need nots. The car was powered by a rare, racy but street legal 5.8 liter (351) Windsor en-

gine. Cranking out 290hp the engine was one that people wished Ford had spread around a little more.

These cars are extremely rare to come by today, Another interesting factoid with the 1995 models was

the extremely rare hard top convertible. The original 1994 Mustang press release had full photos and

specs of this option, but it was not produced until much later in the model run, and really only for 1995

models. It is not known how many were produced, but likely only a hand full. It seems that Ford

dropped the option after having supplier problems as well as safety concerns.

The 1995 was also known as the last year for the 5.0. The old pushrod V8 that had powered the Mus-

tang for over 30 years was getting retired.

Sapulpa’s new Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum is OPEN!

SAPULPA, Oklahoma _ Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum opened its doors to the public on Tues-

day, August 2, 2016. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. and on Sunday,

from Noon till 4 p.m. The museum will be closed on Mondays.

“Although there is still a lot to do, we are finally ready to show everyone how we have trans-

formed the old armory in Sapulpa into the Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum,” said Lina Holmes,

Executive Director.

The Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum is a 10,000-square-foot facility featuring vintage cars, ex-

hibits, catering kitchen and gift shop.

A 66-foot-tall vintage-inspired gas pump, sponsored by Sapulpa’s own American Heritage Bank,

will be erected outside the museum. The foundation for the gas pump sign has been poured,

and with the help of Bennett Steel, fabrication of the structure is scheduled to begin soon.

“Over the next few months, you’ll be able to watch as this gas pump is erected,” Holmes said.

“There’s no doubt it will make it easy for people to find us. It’s going to be huge.”

“We want to showcase this thrilling new addition to Sapulpa,” said Sapulpa Chamber of Com-

merce President Suzanne Shirey. “We think the museum is going to be a huge draw both na-

tionally and internationally.”

For those interested, museum memberships are still available. Annual memberships cost $45

for two people. A Founding Membership is $2,500, which includes lifetime admission to the mu-

seum for two people, a permanent plaque with a chosen name on the wall of the museum and

15 percent off purchases at the gift shop. All donations and memberships are 100% tax-

deductible.
