With this Denali release, we added new features that, based on customer feedback,

should be very useful to you.

Denali 2020 v1Click the Help button in any window or download the module PDFs from the Customer Service Center for more information about these features.

Check the Exempt Box to Exempt Employees from Tax Codes On the Pay Rates/Taxes tab in the Employee Management window, there is now an Exempt check box on each Tax Code row. This allows you to exempt employees from specific Tax Codes.

Choose Which Stock Information to Copy in InventoryIf you want to copy information from one stock item record to the next when you add inventory, you now have the following options in Inventory Module Preferences.

• Allow copy of stock item information and sales information: this option copies IN Code, Location, Created, Description, Primary Vendor, Superseded, Alternate, Interchangeable, Product Type, Tax Code from AvaTax, Discount, GL Key, GL Sales Income, Purchasing Size, Storing Size, Unit Package, and Non-Inventory Code.

• Allow copy of quantity and price information: this option copies Pricing Type and Pricing fields, Alt Price 1, Alt Price 2, Misc Chrg, Stnd Cost, Last Cost, Minimum, and Maximum.

NOTE: In Denali, security access is denied by default for all users. It is up to you to determine the level of access you want for your users and to set this level for all areas and features in the software. When new features or functions are added or changed, access to these features is set to the default setting. In other words, no users will have access to the area or feature until you change the security setting(s). Review the new features carefully and update your security settings as needed.

Define a Default Country for AR CustomersIf you have many customers in a different country than your organization, you can set up a Default Country in Accounts Receivable Module Preferences.

This country will be the default on the Billing/Shipping tab in the AR Customers window when you enter new customer information.

Print a Missing Budget Account Report In General Ledger, you can now print a report that shows you the ledger accounts not included in a selected budget. Access the Missing Budget Accounts Report from the Reporting menu on the left navigation pane.

See a Budget Report Before Budgets are Final In General Ledger, you can now print the Budget Report to include all finalized accounts or a specific Budget Code that includes finalized and non-finalized accounts.

See the Running Total for Ledger Accounts (Business Users)If you’re a Denali Business user, you can now see the running total for your accounts across all periods on the Period Totals tab in the GL Accounts window.

Set Up Sales Layaway Restocking FeesIn Sales, you can set up restocking fees for when a customer cancels a layaway. On the Refunds tab of the Layaway Preferences window, you can set up a default fee based on a dollar or percent amount. You can change this fee when you cancel the layaway.

Updates to Budget Management (Fund Users)If you’re a Denali Fund user, you’ll notice a few updates in the Budget Management window.

• There is a Fund Start column that shows the month the fund’s fiscal calendar starts.• The Fiscal/Fund Year column shows the fiscal year and the fund calendar year.• Periods will align with the fund calendar, so if your fund calendar starts in June, Period 1 will be

June. Use the new tooltips to see which month(s) a period includes.

Use the New Budget What-If Analysis ToolAn exciting feature for anyone who works with budgets is our new What-If Analysis. If you want to tinker with your budgets to see how different amounts would affect them, you can use the new Budget What-If Analysis window. This window lets you change your anticipated and remaining budget amounts for each account, increase or decrease budget amount by a percentage, and either update an existing budget or create a new one. You can find this new window on the Account menu in General Ledger.

Activity Number Automatically Increments in Bank ReconciliationIn the BR Enter Bank Activity window, the activity number you enter will now automatically increment when you save the transaction. If you change the activity type, the number will clear and begin incrementing based on the number you enter for the new activity type.

Import Donations from Donately If you collect donations through Donately, you can now import them into General Ledger. First you need to integrate with Donately in Controller.

After you integrate with Donately, you can import your donations in the GL Import Donations from Donately window found on the General Ledger Transaction Tasks menu. After you choose the date range for donations you want to import, your campaigns and donations will appear. You’ll need to set up your GL account and opposing GL account for each campaign. You can choose which donations to import based on campaign or individual donation.

When you import your donations journal entries are created, which you can then verify and post.

Import Donations from FacebookIf you collect donations through Facebook, you can now import them into General Ledger. You’ll first need to export a .csv donation file from Facebook. Then, in the Import from Facebook Donation File window found on the General Ledger Transaction Tasks menu, you can browse to the .csv file to import. Your campaigns and donations will appear. You’ll need to set up your GL account and opposing GL account for each campaign. You can choose which donations to import based on campaign or individual donation.

If you select the Allow override of pay rates in Prepare Payroll check box, the Regular, Other Time 1 Units, and Other Time 2 Units pay rate fields will be available to edit in the Enter Units window in Prepare Payroll.

Print Only Total Hours on Pay StubsIf you import daily units in Payroll and you want to print only a summary of pay rate lines instead of a line for each day on check stubs, you can now check the Summarize pay rates check box in Module Preferences.

See Expenses Sorted by Class on the Statement of Functional ExpensesDenali Fund users can run the Statement of Functional Expenses to see expenses sorted by Expense Class (Program, Management and General, or Fundraising).

You must assign expense classes in the GL Accounts window. The Expense Class field will appear for expense accounts.

Use Accounts Receivable UDFs in SalesIf you set up user-defined fields in Accounts Receivable, you can now add them to your entry windows in Sales. On the Header tab of the Set Up Sales Entry Layout window, you can add your AR UDFs. These fields will not be editable in the entry windows.

Adjust Pay Rates During Payroll ProcessingIf you need to adjust an employee’s pay rate while you’re processing payroll, you can now change it in the Enter Units window. In the Prepare Payroll window, click the Edit button in the Total Units column to open the PR Enter Units window. You can adjust the rate for Regular Units or Other Time Units.

Automated Invoicing Through PayPalYou can now send invoices to and receive online payments from customers through PayPal. Instead of sending out statements each month, PayPal will send them for you! After you set this up in Denali, your customers will receive an email invoice with a link to pay through PayPal. You can then import the payments into Denali and post. After you set up PayPal integration in Controller, you’ll be able to choose which customers will receive invoices through PayPal.

Copy More Item Information When Adding Stock ItemsIf you select Allow Copy of Stock Item Information in the Inventory Module Preferences window, it will now copy the Product Type, GL Key, and GL Sales Income fields on the Sales Info tab. This is in addition to the Description, Location, IN Code, Alternate, and Interchangeable fields that were previously copied. This feature is useful if you’re entering several stock items at once and you want each stock item to use the same information for those fields.

Landing, Tax, Freight, and Discounts Now Easier to Manage in Purchase OrderWe reworked the way you can apply landing, tax, freight, and discounts in Purchase Order to make it easier to manage. Click the help button in the Purchase Order Module Preferences, Entry, and Receiving windows to find out exactly how these fields work.

Learn More with the Sales by State ReportIn addition to the other ways you can sort your reports in Sales, you can now run a Sales by State Report. You can access this report on the Sales Reporting menu.
