New Cops and Kids Initiative
To educate about law enforcement and improve interactions between youth and police officers, CRF is launching a Los Angeles-wide Cops and Kids program. With support from the Morrison & Foerster Foundation, this innovative and proven program will now be web-based to reach thousands of students and feature expanded classroom curriculum and civic action components to address neighborhood safety.
Teaching Critical Civic Skills
To help students develop critical reading skills, evaluate claims and sources, and make evidence based arguments CRF is working on a new grant with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in California and two other states to enhance teacher practice in these areas.
Library of Congress Project
Thanks to a grant to CRF and the Barat Foundation from the Library of Congress we will be developing innovative educational resources to help students better understand their constitutional heritage and history. Lessons will focus on understanding and analyzing documents and primary sources from the archives of the Library.
