Orlando Branch Manager Bill Pinkowski, CSC provided a team of officers who were responsible for access control into the conference areas and the exhibit hall. Kayley Horwood served as CSC’s on-site event manager.

Bruce George, Director of Operations for CSC affiliate company, APEX Security Group, spoke at this year’s NCS4 conference regarding the perimeter security challenges surrounding open-air events. Bruce specifically discussed the Pasadena Rose Parade, and the panel presentation also included representatives from several types of high-profile events, such as marathons, triathlons, and golf tournaments.

CSC would like to congratulate AmericanAirlines Arena, a recipient of the NCS4 Facility of Merit award for performing above and beyond normal operations and demonstrating an innovative approach to enhancing safety and security. Additionally, CSC congratulates AmericanAirlines Arena and Miami HEAT Director of Security, Bob Hundevadt, who received the 2013 NCS4 Professional of the Year Award for his outstanding leadership in addressing safety and security issues.

ORLANDO, FL – Established in 2006, The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at the University of Southern Mississippi is top among academic institutions studying techniques, strategies and solutions to mitigate the safety and security risks inherent in spectator sports venues. Through cutting-edge research, internationally recognized educational programs, training and innovative solutions, NCS4 continues to enhance the level of preparedness at sports events nationwide and also equips current and future sports managers with the specialized skills and knowledge that is required to address real challenges in maintaining secure sports venues.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Attracting over 130,000 attendees from all over the world, Comic-Con® International is a celebration of comics and related popular art forms. Established in 1970, this four-day convention takes place yearly at the San Diego Convention Center and utilizes a massive amount of space, including 525,700 square feet of the main exhibit hall. With over 600 separate events taking place throughout the convention, Comic-Con® unites fans with special guests, comics, science fiction and fantasy authors, film and television directors, producers, writers, and creators from all aspects of the popular arts. CSC has been affiliated with Comic-Con® since 2010 and provided security services for this year’s convention under the direction of RA Consulting.

Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake ‘Legends of the Summer’ Tour

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake kicked off their highly anticipated Legends of the Summer tour concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco on July 26 in front of 54,000 fans. Working under the direction of Live Nation and the 49ers management team, led by Jim Mercurio, Vice President of Stadium Operations and Security, CSC San Francisco deployed a team of 550 to provide services for what may have been one of Candlestick Park’s last concerts before Levi’s Stadium opens in summer 2014.

PASADENA, CA – Two nights later, the Legends of the Summer tour rocked Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena with over 66,000 fans in attendance. Led by Branch Manager Tabiri Wilder, CSC Los Angeles deployed 1,300 staff to provide extensive services including bicycle patrol, ushering, traffic control, and VIP escorts under the direction of Darryl Dunn, Rose Bowl General Manager.

GUTHRIE CENTER, IA – Partnering with Guthrie’s River Ruckus for the first time, CSC Des Moines was pleased to provide event management, security, and event staffing services July 26-27 at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds in Guthrie Center, IA. Established in 2009, this year’s River Ruckus featured many great country artists, including Josh Thompson, Gretchen Wilson, Hank Williams Jr., and Chris Cagle. CSC’s services were provided under the direction of Grant Sheeder, GMS Production LLC.

Firefly Music Festival

DOVER, DE – CSC Washington D.C. and CSC Philadelphia provided security for the second annual Firefly Music Festival June 21-23 at Dover International Speedway & Woodlands in Dover, DE. Festival attendance exceeded 60,000 per day with more than 50 bands performing, including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Foster the People. CSC provided barricade and backstage security for all four stages as well as security detail at the headliner compound. Services were provided under the direction of Ed Klima, Dover International Speedway’s Director of Emergency Services and Loss Control.

CSC Employee Spotlight

FRESNO, CA – CSC Fresno employee Alvina Torres first joined the CSC team in 1991. Now, 22 years later, Alvina is responsible for training and overseeing all 24-hour security guards at Save Mart Center. During events, she monitors several radios and greatly contributes to a successful work flow. CSC is honored to have such a dedicated employee as Alvina and congratulates her on 22 years of service.

Summerfest Entertains 805,000 Fans

MILWAUKEE, WI – Summerfest continues to energize downtown Milwaukee year after year, and the 2013 festival did not disappoint. More than 800 bands performed over 11 days for the 805,000 fans in attendance. Led by Branch Manager Ross Anderson, CSC’s services included crowd management, line control, gate security, and overnight security coverage for the exhibitor tents and displays. Services were provided under the direction of Bill Wesley, Security Director

for Milwaukee World Festival Inc., and Ron Hansen, Transit Coordinator for Coach USA Company. CSC also worked closely with The Specialized Marketing Group Inc., Marketing Werks, and Flavor Group Creative Agency.

MADISON, WI - CSC Wisconsin would like to thank the University of Wisconsin-Madison Athletic Department and its Director of Guest Services, Ben Fraser, for hosting a CSC employee appreciation dinner at Kohl Center in June. More than 100 employees logged over 200 event hours during the 2012-2013 season and received invitations to the appreciation dinner, where raffle prizes included tickets to upcoming UW Badgers home games and footballs autographed by UW Athletic Director, Barry Alvarez, and UW Football Coach, Gary Andersen.
