The ministry of SHC is funded entirely by the generous giving of God’s people. You will notice that we do not pass the offering plate; however, there are offering boxes in the back of the auditorium. We believe from the Word of God that the Spirit of God will lead people towards giving back to God of their first fruits. “...God loves a cheerful giver,” (2 Cor. 9:7). Please prayerfully consider what the Lord would have you do.

Our Purpose Colossians 1:28-29
Love God. Love Others. Reach The World.
Finals Week at Discipleship
University Part 1
“Senior Practicum” Luke 9:1-9
Presented by
Pastor Justin Greene
October 25, 2015
The following was taken from “The Purpose of a
Practicum” for social work. (pearsonhighered.com)
Congratulations for embarking on your exciting social work
practicum experience. You are to be applauded for reaching
this stage in your professional education and for being selected
and approved for a practicum based on your academic
achievements and your readiness for professional experience.
The practicum offers a unique opportunity to apply what you
have learned in the classroom, to expand your knowledge, and
to develop your skills. It is time for you to move from the role of a
student to the role of a professional social worker.
Most types of professional education—whether in medicine,
nursing, law, pharmacy, speech therapy, or social work—wisely
employ some form of practicum, internship, or preceptorship to
help the student learn how to apply knowledge and general
principles to real situations, problems, and concerns.
The Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Educational
Policies, and Academic Standards (2008) states:
In social work, the signature pedagogy is field education. The
intent of field education is to connect the theoretical and
conceptual contribution of the classroom with the practical
world of the practice setting. It is a basic precept of social work
education that the two interrelated components of
curriculum—classroom and field—are of equal importance
within the curriculum, and each contributes to the
development of the requisite competencies of professional
practice. Field education is systematically designed, supervised,
coordinated, and evaluated based on criteria by which
students demonstrate the achievement of program
competencies. (8)
Almost universally, students of social work at both the BSW and
MSW levels describe their practicum as the single most useful,
significant, and powerful learning experience of their formal
social work education. It is during the practicum that the
concepts, principles, and theories discussed in the classroom
come to life. …The practicum can and should be a time when
classroom theory is integrated with social work practice and
when students merge with the values and fundamental
principles of their chosen profession.
In Luke 9, the disciples were about to start a
practicum
•
Senior Practicum
Christ gave his disciples three basic guidelines for this
practicum…
1. He gave them a “Ministry message”.
• They were to preach the kingdom.
• They were to proclaim Christ as King of this kingdom.
3. He gave them “Ministry Manners”.
• He spoke to them about their luggage
Take nothing (vs. 3)
• He spoke to them about their lodging.
Stay wherever (v.4)
• He spoke to them about their leaving.
A testimony (v.5)
