Customer Requirements
- The PWW Black Viper 9000 was
manufactured for ages 11+
- There is a huge market for safer projectile
shooting devices amongst boys in that age
group (i.e. Nerf guns)
Designing the Black Viper 9000- Started as an autoloading spring powered
marshmallow launcher
- Equipment and skill constraints caused
several design shifts
Design 1
Pros:
• Trigger allowed for
connection to laser
sight
Cons:
• Precise PVC cuts
difficult to make
with materials on-
hand
• Ammo free to fall
through barrel with
open-air design
• Trigger difficult to
design and 3D
Design 2Pros:
• Better pivot-based
trigger system
• Easier 3-D printing
design and less
material
Cons:
• Precise PVC cuts
difficult to make
with materials on-
hand
• Ammo free to fall
through barrel with
open-air design
Design 3Pros:
• Required few in-
precise cuts in
PVC
• Decreased costs
eliminating 3D
printing and many
man-hours
Cons:
• Abandoned trigger
mechanism
altogether
• Diminished
originalityWe chose to use duct tape as an cheap means of joining pieces, air-sealing PVC, and
providing grip texture for handles.
Our Final Form
Single-load musket-style blow
gun, shoot small green balls
Laser sight for increased
accuracy

Customer feedback and results
- One of the team members asked his 11 year old cousin
about their thoughts on the product as a whole.- The younger customer said it was a fun design and that he
thinks he and his friends could have friendly battles against
each other.
- Gave the device a “7.5 or 8” out of 10
- We presented the toy to one of our TA’s (Chris R.) who
said that he would buy the product we are presenting.

Summary and Conclusions
During prototyping, the original design fell through when we
lacked the correct tools to precisely cut the PVC material.
However we made the best of what we had and created a fun
and exciting blow-gun toy and competitive target game.
