Quotations can be supplied ‘as per specs’, from an ‘open spec’ or
engineered to meet a budget. They can be supplied as total
quantities or split room by room. Whatever the requirement,
they will be swift, accurate, dependable and competitive.
Each estimator also checks that all mandatory products and
accessories have been included, and that requested
products don’t conflict with one another, such as pans
not fitting with concealed cisterns or showers not fitting
on trays, thus avoiding delays and extra costs being incurred
at a later date. This is all part of the Neville Lumb quotation service.

Case Study 1
Luxury hotel, LondonProject: RefurbishmentValue: Over £400k
This luxury hotel underwent a major refurbishment, including
the refit of over 320 en-suite bathrooms. The work was carried
out in several stages and the hotel remained open throughout
the 16-month project.
Working closely with the contractor, Neville Lumb was able to
co-ordinate all supplier deliveries into one of its warehouses.
From there, all first fix components were removed, labelled and
then packed into boxes and pallets. The pallets were then split
and labelled by room and floor in preparation for call-offs in line
with the contractor’s schedule. The process was repeated for all
second fix products.
The contractor was then able to call-off each room and floor
as required, minimising on-site damage and storage whilst
maximising their cash flow. Each call-off was allocated a
delivery slot and was supplied on a specific vehicle from our
fleet that allowed for easy access to every site entrance and an
easy off-load facility. All deliveries were made before 7.00am
to avoid congestion around the site. Furthermore, all waste
from previous deliveries was collected and returned to branch
for re-use/disposal.
THE CHALLENGE
• Multiple room and floor call-offs• First and second fix split• Four different sanitaryware suppliers• Minimum site storage• Allocated delivery times only• Restricted Parking/Access

Office block, ManchesterProject: New buildValue: Over £80k
Not uncommon in the recent climate, the budget for this new build project
was reduced at the client’s discretion. The change led to the original
specification and its pricing being inappropriate for the new requirements.
The first challenge was to understand the original specification, the style, the
budget and the expected footfall. This was done by Neville Lumb’s General
Manager, meeting the client and the contractor. From the vast supplier portfolio,
his team proposed alternative products of at least the same quality, which
could do the same job, and in some cases, offered more suitable alternatives
of higher specifications to do a better job, at more competitive prices.
Samples of all products were submitted for approval supported by quotations
detailing the new proposal, delivery times and a document offering details
and images of each product versus the originally specified products. Once
approved, a complete call-off schedule was agreed and Neville Lumb began
to co-ordinate all supplier deliveries into their warehouses. From there,
all products were collated and packed ready for call-offs in line with the
contractor’s schedule.
The project was supplied in several stages and all within the revised budget.
Additionally, Neville Lumb was on hand to provide support and advice for the
duration of the installation process.
