Neutron Lhsimetry, Proceedings of the Seventh Neutron Dosimerry Symposium, held at Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany, 14-18 October 1991. Edited by R. Jam, W. G. ALBERTS, H. MENZEL and H. SCHRAUBE. Nuclear Technol- ogy Publishing, Ashford, Kent, U.K. 1992. ISBN l-870965- 16-7. Hardback, 470~~. Price: E80.

The Symposium was sponsored by CEC, USDOE, Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) and GSF Forschungszentrum fur Umwelt und Gesundheit, Miinchen. The previous Symposium in this series had been held in Munich in 1987. The proceedings includes papers on a wide range of neutron related topics including physical data, radiobiology, spectrometry, calibration techniques, personal monitoring, solid state detectors, neutron therapy and unique neutron production facilities. Approximately 170 participants from 27 countries attended the Symposium, and the proceedings contains 94 papers.

Protection (ICRP) and the International Commission on Radiation Units and Measurements (ICRU) which present revised guidance on quantities and concepts used for radi- ation mote&ion. Snecificallv. papers from PTB and GSF preseni fluence to dose cot&e&n factor calculations re- lated to implementation of new quantities.

Additional papers include physical data for application in neutron therapy and radiation protection, with emphasis on higher energies, spectrometric techniques. There are two sections with II papers dealing with fast neutron therapy and boron neutron capture therapy. There is an excellent overview highlighting past problems, potential advantages and technical advances in neutron therapy.

Neutron Dosimerry is a very well edited publication which would be a valuable addition to the library of anyone specializing in neutrons problems in radiation protection or radiation biology.

The Symposium is oriented to radiation protection and RICHARD GRIFFITH radiation biology. Many of the papers address recent re- International Atomic Energy Agency ports by the International Commission on Radiological Vienna, Austria
