NEUROSCIENCE Neuroscience is the interdisciplinary study of the mind, brain and behavior. It answers questions about why and how living organisms do the things they do: • How does a fly avoid a fly-swatter? • How does a fish navigate currents? • How does caffeine affect the human brain? Hiram College neuroscience majors will take courses in a wide variety of disciplines – ethics, computer science, biology, chemistry, psychology, etc. – to begin answering these questions. Hiram College offers five distinct neuroscience concentrations: Cellular and Molecular: Courses include “Molecular and Cellular Biology,” “Genetics,” “Basic Biochemistry” Cognitive and Behavioral: Courses include “Personality,” “Abnormal Personality,” “Learning,” “Animal Behavior,” “Social Psychology,” “Cognitive Psychology,” “Animal Cognition” Philosophy and Ethics: Courses include “Introduction to Ethics,” “Early Modern Philosophy,” “History and Philosophy of Science,” “Narrative Bioethics,” “Phenomenology,” “Narrative Applied Biomedical Ethics” Career Possibilities: • Optometry • Psychopathy counseling • Animal behavior • Genetics • Cell biology • Occupational therapy Thinking about a minor or double major? Try: • biology • biomedical humanities • art • psychology • religious studies (over)

Hiram College offers five distinct neuroscience concentrations: • Cellular and Molecular: Courses include “Molecular and Cellular Biology,” “Genetics,” “Basic Biochemistry” • Cognitive and Behavioral: Courses include “Personality,” “Abnormal Personality,” “Learning,” “Animal Behavior,” “Social Psychology,” “Cognitive Psychology,” “Animal Cognition” • Philosophy and Ethics: Courses include “Introduction to Ethics,” “Early Modern Philosophy,” “History and Philosophy of Science,” “Narrative Bioethics,” “Phenomenology,” “Narrative Applied Biomedical Ethics”

Career Possibilities: • Optometry • Psychopathy counseling • Animal behavior • Genetics • Cell biology • Occupational therapy

Thinking about a minor or double major? Try: • biology • biomedical humanities • art • psychology • religious studies
