Introduction Introduction

What’s new since the previous release of the NetWorker Wizard?

NetWorker Wizard Keystone GUI is now supported on linux86, hp, and aix.

NetWorker Wizard Keystone has been integrated inside the NMC GUI.

NetWorker Wizard Keystone has a new Sun-branded version.

NetWorker Wizard Keystone provides full backwards supportability for previous release of the NetWorker Wizard (Crystal), as well as already released LNMs Wizard plug-ins (NMExch, NMSQL, NMO, etc.).

New OS SupportNew OS Support

Previous version of the NetWorker Wizard GUI supported only Windows and Solaris OSs.

The new NetWorker Wizard (Keystone) GUI supports hp11, aix, and linux86, in addition to the already supported Windows and Solaris.

As in the earlier version of the NetWorker Wizard (Crystal), the client side plug-ins are supported on all applicable operating systems that are supported by the corresponding LNM/NetWorker client.

Integration with NMCIntegration with NMC

The NetWorker Wizard (Keystone) GUI can now only be launched from within the NMC GUI. This provides close integration with the NMC GUI and ensures that customers have one unified control center for all of their configuration needs.

NetWorker server selection screen is not be available from within NCW.

The name of the NetWorker server is now captured inside NMC and is propagated to NCW, using the ‘-s <server name>’ command line argument.

The NetWorker server selection page is “skipped” when the Wizard is invoked from within NMC, however, it is still displayed for backwards compatibility, when the Wizard loads an already released (old) plug-in.

The NetWorker server selection screen is also displayed if the user selects the “change server selection” button on the last configuration page of the Wizard.

The Tremblant Wizard is only be launch able from within the NMC GUI. This implies that all of the shortcuts to the Wizard have been removed and the launch interface is solely provided by NMC.

All parameters should be set using the RMAN ‘send’ command.

The ‘parms’ keyword is still supported but its use is discouraged.

The only exceptions are the NMO parameters ‘NSR_DEBUG_FILE’ and ‘NSR_DPRINTF_FILE’. They must be set using the ‘parms’ keyword.

LocalizationLocalization

Tremblant NCW is localizable and utilizes the I18N wrappers as per the Legato localization framework standards.

Tremblant NCW correctly displays all filenames of the keystone clients. As part of this effort, NCW has addressed the browsing of non-ASCII, non-utf8 encoded filenames on UNIX systems, as documented in LGTpa72588.

Tremblant NCW has made no attempts to satisfy the NEW, work-in-progress I18N framework and did not make any changes as specified in LGTpa71204

Backwards supportability for old Crystal NetWorker client plug-ins has been provided.Backwards supportability for old LNMs plug-ins has been provided.

Old NetWorker Wizard (Crystal) will support the new plug-ins

Forward supportability for new Keystone NetWorker client plug-ins has been provided.Forwards supportability for new post-Keystone released LNMs plug-ins will be provided.

The installation of NCW 1.0 (Crystal) is NOT supported on Keystone clients.

NCW 1.0 (Crystal), installed on top of NetWorker 7.2 supports the configuration of either NetWorker 7.2 or Keystone clients.

The Keystone client package, which contains NCW, supports the configuration of wither NetWorker 7.2 or Keystone clients.

The Keystone EBS client package (Sun-branded), containing NCW, supports the configuration of either NetWorker 7.2 or Keystone clients.

Packaging & installation (Unix)Packaging & installation (Unix)

Please note that the NetWorker client 7.2 package did not include NCW. Instead NCW 1.0 was shipped as a separate package. The remaining binaries of NCW have been added to Keystone client package such that the entire NCW is now self-contained inside the NetWorker Keystone client package.

The following files have been added to the existing Keystone LGTOclnt package on solaris64:

/usr/sbin/nsrcscd32/usr/bin/nwwiz/usr/lib/nsr/libfswiz.so/usr/lib/nsr/libqt-mt.so.3/usr/lib/nsr/libstdc++.so.5/usr/lib/nsr/libgcc_s.so.1/usr/lib/nsr/wiz_img.bmp
