4.16. Update Product Software

LaCie may improve your network hard drive’s sotware or add new

eatures over time. See below or updating inormation.

To fnd the latest version o Network Space MAX sotware, go to

Dashbaord>Support. Under Confguration, look or Version (Fig. 

95). The number that ollows is the version o sotware installed on

your Network Space MAX.

Note that you can always restore your drive to actory deaults by

ollowing the procedure in 4.17. Reset to Factory.

4.16.1. Method 1: Auto-Update

Your network hard drive is by deault confgured to obtain the latestsotware updates through the internet. The Support page o your 

product’s Dashboard will check i updates are available and install

them i you wish.

 Alternatively, i you preer to update your drive manually or are on

a restricted network, you can accomplish this using LaCie Network

 Assistant (see 4.17. Reset to Factory).

1. Open Dashboard > Support.

2. In the Auto-Update box, click the gray downward-acing arrow

to check or a new update (Fig. 94).

3. I an update is available, the download will begin automatically.

4. Once the download has concluded, click the Details link to see

the change log. Click the Install button to continue (Fig. 95).

5. The drive will reboot and will thereore disappear rom the net-

work temporarily (Fig. 96). Installation can take several minutes.

When it reappears, you can veriy the new sotware version on

Dashboard > Support.

4.16.2. Method 2: Update with LaCie

Network Assistant Software

This update procedure will not erase your confguration or fles

saved to the drive.

Recommendations for UpdatingUsing LaCie Network Assistant

 ✦ Connect your PC or Mac to the network using an Ethernetcable (turn o wireless connection)

 ✦ Make sure users on your network have stopped data trans-ers to the NAS

 ✦ Turn o other NAS on the network except the one you wishto update

 ✦ Disconnect all connections to shares on the NAS you wantto update

1. Make sure you are using the latest version o LaCie Network

 Assistant (minimum 1.4.1). I you download a newer version,

make sure to uninstall previous versions.

2. Download the latest sotware update or your product rom here.

3. Run LaCie Network Assistant.

4. Go to Preerences and make sure IPCon Support is deactivated

(Fig. 97).

5. Select your product rom the list on the let and click on the

Update your NAS button (Fig. 98). Enter your admin username

and password.6. Browse to and load the update package (.capsule fle) you

downloaded (Fig. 99).

7. Click on Continue... to begin update. Mac users may have to

type in their administrator’s password. Installation can take sev-

eral minutes.

8. Once the update is complete, veriy the update: Click the LaCie

Network Assistant logo in the menu bar (Mac) or task bar (Win-

dows) and select Confguration Window. Click the Network tab,

where the system version will be listed.

9. I the update has ailed despite the network precautions listed in

the box above, connect the drive directly to your computer using

the Ethernet cable, then try again.
