You all killed it for my Canadian Member that applied last Wed while we were at an event and they were through provisioning and connected to the route server by the following morning! It was amazing and needless to say they couldn't stop telling people about the great service LINX provides

Route Collector Update
LINX105 14
• Current Route Collectors are based on aging Cisco 7206VXR routers
• As part of JEDIX, we have deployed our first Bird based route Collector, running in a VM
• We are evaluating suitable Looking Glass options, with Alice LG looking the most likely choice
• Plan is to gradually replace existing collectors

Virtus Capacity Upgrade
LINX105 16
• Virtus Hayes is a Transmission PoP, normally only capable of delivering 1G and 10G services to both LON1 and LOn2 networks
• Upgrade to 100G capability, using existing MRV hardware
• Requires move to a new rack

Why are we deploying MX10Ks
• It’s a new technology at a far better cost base than existing MX960 based 100G
• Will be moving 100G members at core sites to new MX10008 chassis which will release MX960 hardware for other sites.
• It will facilitate migration to 400G, but that is secondary driver

Key Next Steps
LINX105 22
• We are completing POC process to validate solution • We had initial attempt of POC in November, but needed follow
up. • Successful passed Performance POC in February. • Convergence/Stability POC 1st week in June (next week)
• JunOS 18.2R3 due early in June target for deployment • We need 18.2 for member flow statistics • R3 for code maturity and few issues picked up in early POCs
• Also have MX10008 in lab, so progressing systems and operations readiness.

High Priority First Step
LINX105 23
• We do not want to order any more 100G of the old technology or any more PTX HW
• So will be deploying 1st MX10008 in TCH • Equinix LD8 @ Harbour Exchange
• Though future core router, will be initially deployed in a PE topology • Still called core3-tch to not need re-naming • But initially really edge5-tch
• Migrating existing members off edge3-tch will release MX HW for interim 100G growth
• End June/Early July target • We are running down stock in the mean time, so if you have any
planned 100G orders, let us know

Initial Deployment
LINX105 24
• Add MX10008 to Existing Core
• New 100G members provisioned on core3-tch
• Will migrate members from edge3-tch to core3-tch
• Can then decommission edge3-tch
• Can install 2nd MX10008 (core4-tch) in edge3-tch’s old rack

1. If you want to use your pre-formatted bullets, click on the Increase List Level button.

Further Installs
LINX105 25
• Will install MX10008 in THN and THW at same time as core4-tch
• Swap MUXes on LON2 to SmartOptics Smart MUXes • TCH-THN span • But LON2 will initially
remain on Ciena • LON2 only
maintenance, no impact on LON1
• Can then commission and stability test Inphi PAM4 Colorz optics on LON1
• Probably take us to late July

1. If you want to use your pre-formatted bullets, click on the Increase List Level button.
2. To indent your bullets to the next level, click on Increase List Level again.
Start Core migration
LINX105 26
• Inserting MX10Ks on TCH-THW link
• Swinging over LON1 only DF, so should not affect LON2
• Capacity initially remains at 12*100G
• Statically routed LSPs, so less need to worry about routing
• Now have 2 MX10Ks as P-only LSRs

1. If you want to use your pre-formatted bullets, click on the Increase List Level button.

TCH Tidy Up
LINX105 27
• At this point, all 100G members migrated in TCH
• Both MX10Ks become both LSR and LER
• TCH now at long term topology
• This should take us to LINX 106

1. If you want to use your pre-formatted bullets, click on the Increase List Level button.
2. To indent your bullets to the next level, click on Increase List Level again.
Progressive approach
LINX105 28
• First Deploy MX10K as edge • Add few members, then
migrate • Adding core role on 1 link
initially • SmartOptics/Inphi
1. First swap MUX 2. Stability 3. Test traffic 4. Use in anger
This is not because we are particularly worried about the technologies, but because the rollout plan gave us that option We have been working on these technologies since 2018

EVPN
LINX105 29
• Still planning to migrate to EVPN (over MPLS). • We do need to run dual stack during migration • 2TB NNI between migrated and unmigrated part is not realistic
• We still have some testing on the migration technique • Was part of the initial scope of November 2018 POC, but was
dropped due to other parts of POC were over-running • Planning to re attempt POC Q3 2019
• Migration from VPLS to EVPN would be after core migration to MX10K

Presently • On 3 under-utilized
routers • Only parented off THW
only • Consolidating our THE
presence to 1 suite
(Subject to change)

Further Steps 2nd TH link
LINX105 32
• Step 7 is decommissioning core2-thw so can fit 2nd MX10K
• Step 8 is installing the new routers in freed space
• Step 9 is the cut-over to new core
• New core now fully live
• (Subject to change)

Final Topology
LINX105 33
• All 100G members in core site migrated
• All remaining edges @ core sites upgraded to 100G ISL to MX10K cores
• Upgrade work in EQ4/EQ6 and RBS
• Decommission old cores
• 2019 Capacity upgrades
• LON2 on SmartOptics enabled links
