Integrating NonStop servers with HP OpenViewHP NonStop servers integrate with many of the HP

OpenView products.

HP OpenView NonStop Server Management, is an out-of-the-box solution that provides seamless integration for managing HP NonStop servers with OpenView Operations software. A natural extension of OpenView software, this new product provides customers with true end-to-end enterprise management, including the NonStop server.

Network Node Manager software automatically discovers your network and provides customizable maps and submaps so you can see visually what is happening. Network Node Manager software also enables event management and allows remote access via the Web.

They should be installed in these directories on every installation

• %OV_SYMBOLS%\C\Computer\Computer_nonstop

• %OV_BITMAPS%\C\computer\nonstop.*.pm

• %OV_WWW%\htdocs\bitmaps\C\computer\nonstop.*.gif

If the NNM is used for server management only, it is recommended to reduce the discovered nodes types to Server, Hubs and Router.

For this purpose create a fileC:\Program Files\HP OpenView\conf\netmon.noDiscover

Make an entry for all IP addresses which should be not monitored.

Java Plug-in 1.5.0 Support

Support for Java Plug-in 1.5.0 in NNM 7.51 IP15 is just released.

The Java Plug-in 1.5.0 will also work with prior versions of NNM 7.5 by just applying a workaround of disabling Java caching in the browser.

Here are the instructions for disabling Java cache on Windows:

• Open the Java Control Panel (Start -> Control Panel -> Java).

• In the General tab, click the Settings... button to open the Temporary Files Settings dialog.

• Click the View Applets... button to open the Java Applet Cache Viewer.

• Uncheck the Enable Caching checkbox in the lower-left-hand-corner of this dialog.

• Click OK on all dialogs.

• Restart the browser, and retry NNM Home Base.
