Aims of the workshop

• To provide you with an introduction to basic computational skills

• Genomics• Population genomics• Amplicon analysis• Metagenomic analysis

– We will not have time to work with custom datasets– You should be able to take what you learn and apply it to your own

project

• To introduce you to the leaders in the field• To introduce you to each other!

other delegates/guests.• Smoking area - between the Ship studio and the Great

Hall, and outside the White Hart• Shops

– Dartington shops are a short walk away (approx. 15 minutes) – please ask reception for directions. Shop opening times: Mon-Sat 9.30am - 5.30pm, Sundays 10am -5pm.

– Totnes (small market town with a fascinating history and culture) is around 1.5 miles away from the main estate –please ask reception for directions.

Dartington Hall

• 1925, Dorothy and Leonard Elmhirst purchased the neglected 14th century Dartington estate

• The Elmhirsts poured their resources into the “DartingtonExperiment” – restoring the estate buildings and setting up a host of farming, forestry and educational projects.

• Early initiatives included Dartington Hall School, DartingtonTweed Mill and later DartingtonGlass.
