Resort InformationNendaz sits on terrace at 1400m overlooking the Rhone Valley. It is the largest of the resorts which link in to the Verbier ski area, and offers a fantastic selection of bars, restaurants and shops. With Nendaz sitting in the middle of the Four Valleys ski area, it has quick, easy access to the skiing across the area.

Over the years, Nendaz has expanded around the centre of this delightful old Valais village, with its traditional timber houses, barns and grain stores. There’s a large number of chalets and apartments in the resort, and a buzzing nightlife that offers a low-key but lively alternative to its more famous neighbour, Verbier.

There are stunning views across the valley to the Bernese, Valais and Vaud Alps beyond, which add to the Swiss charm of the resort. With activities for all the family to enjoy in winter and in summer, this dual season resort is an excellent choice for skiers wanting the skiing of the Four Valleys without the hefty price tag attached to the more famous Verbier.

Getting thereNendaz is just 1 hour 45 minutes from Geneva airport, and it’s easily accessed by motorway. This makes it a a good choice if you are looking for a resort you could visit for a long weekend, with enough skiing to keep you busy for weeks.

Restaurant: La Lanterne et le Vieux ChaletThis restaurant is a charming Swiss cabin a little way from the centre of Nendaz. It’s well worth paying a visit. The old, chalet style restaurant offers excellent food, a traditional atmosphere and friendly service that will make guests feel special.

Activities: Grand RaidThe Grand Raid is mountain bike race that offers a challenging course for even the most experienced riders. Those who aren’t too keen on participating in the race will find that this is one of the best events in the resort.

With the front runners offering stunning speed, it takes a few hours for all the entrants to the race to cycle past, making this an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon..

A snow garden and specially adapted lifts allow children and beginners to discover skiing in a fun way, while a nursery welcomes children from 18 months.

There are many other winter activities in Nendaz, including ice skating, hockey and curling at the resort’s ice rink and an Ice Disco in the evenings. There is also 12km of cross-country ski trails, 100km of winter hiking trails and 40km of snowshoe tracks.

WinterNendaz is at the heart of ‘Les 4 Vallées’ ski region, which includes the resorts of Verbier, Veysonnaz, La Tsoumaz and Les Collons. The Four Valleys is the largest ski area in Switzerland with 92 lifts and 412km of pistes, boasting fantastic off-piste and a great range of intermediate and expert runs. The area has some excellent nursery slopes for beginners on the frozen lake high above Nendaz at 2200m, ensuring the resort caters to all abilities.

SummerAround Nendaz there are over 250km of hiking trails, a network of paths running from the orchards in the valley up to the high alps. A particular highlight is the excursion by cableway or mountain bike to the glacier terrain on Mont Fort, with its expansive view of over twenty 4,000m peaks, including the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. There are numerous activities including swimming, tennis, ice skating, beach volleyball, and fishing. For the more adventurous there is also canyoning, paragliding and climbing available.

GolfThere are several golf courses in the region including a good 18 hole course in Sion, just 20 minutes away. Crans Montana boasts two courses; the Severiano Ballesteros course is the home of the prestigious Omega European Masters. The Jack Nicklaus course has been voted the best 9 holes in Switzerland; although the course is relatively short, it is challenging even for experts. Just outside Crans is the Noas Golf Course, a 9-hole course which is open to everyone, with or without a handicap.
