Nellcor Pediatric and Infant Reusable SpO 2 Sensor Application Guide Select a sensor site. For infants 3-15 kg, the preferred site is the big toe. For children 15-40 kg, the preferred site is an index finger, or alternatively, thumb, another finger or big toe. Place the adhesive wrap on a flat surface, fabric side down. Remove the backing to expose both alignment holes. Position the sensor so that notches in the wrap are centered on the side of the toe or finger. Wrap the sensor around the site so the optical components are directly across from each other. Secure the adhesive wrap firmly but not too tightly, and anchor the cable with a piece of medical-grade tape. Position the sensor on the wrap so the alignment bumps protrude through the holes. Press down firmly in the center to ensure the wrap adheres to the sensor. Remove the remaining backing.
