Waste Management Supports Keep Austin Beautiful CleanupIn March, WM of Austin donatws a dumpster and disposal to the
Southeast Austin Trails (SAT) and Greenways Alliance Country
(GAC) Club Creek Creek clean up.
On the cleanup day, volunteers from Keep Austin Beautiful, SAT
and GAC removed invasive Ligustrum, 1,550 pounds of trash,
and completed 1/4 mile of trail maintenance at the Country
Club Creek Greenbelt.
“When the group contacted us for support, we were pleased
to help” states Jessee Andrade, Austin Community Landfill
District Manager. “Removing trash and invasive plants are both
important tasks when it comes to protecting the native Austin
landscape.”

MANAGER’S REPORTHappy Spring from Austin Community Landfill! A lot of exciting activities are happening at the site.
We are currently wrapping up construction of a new cell. This should be completed by the end
of April. We have also started expanding our gas system. We are currently on track to finish this
project in mid April. Also in April, we will be hosting the Redeemer Lutheran School for their annual
landfill education day on April 18. We are happy to have this group back - it’s always a great
learning experience for them and us.
I would also like to remind every one that Earth Day is April 22, 2019. If you are looking for a way
to make a difference in your community for Earth Day, I encourage you to volunteer at one of the
many Keep Austin Beautiful clean-ups happening Saturday, April 13, 2019. You can find more
information about the event at https://keepaustinbeautiful.org/programs/kabday/
As usual, if you have any questions, please give me a call. - Jesse Andrade
