To Whom It May Concern:
Please be advised that a survey has been conducted on the above referenced project. It has beendetermined that there are no cultural resources present on this property. Previously recorded site CA-SDI-9238, consisting of two boulders containing one milling basin each (Noah 1981), appears tohave been graded and completely destroyed. The project has been plotted on the attached USGS 7.5minute topographical map for your information.

DESCRIPTION
The project area represents a disturbed area bounded on the southwest by an earthen bermalong Los Coches Creek, on the northwest by residential development, and on the east by theraised and banked Los Coches Road. The area appears to have been largely graded in thepast. Rock has been placed along portions of the edge of Los Coches Road. Surface
vegetation was relatively sparse with visibility of approximately 80 percent. The entireparcel was intensively surveyed using 10 to 15 meter (m) interval transects. Cut banks alongthe road and creek along with areas of road and rodent disturbance provided additionalvisibility. All bedrock boulders were carefully examined for the presence of bedrock milling. No constraints to the survey were present.
Site CA-SDI-9238 has been previously recorded within the project area. It was located inthe southwestern portion of the project (Noah 1981). The original notes for the site indicatethat it consisted of two bedrock milling features, each with a single milling element. Thesketch map clearly indicates a raised ridge associated with the site. The ridge was higherthan the adjacent Los Coches Road based on the map. Careful reexamination of the areaindicates that this ridge has been graded and removed. None of the bedrock in the arearemained in-situ and the area has been graded to a combination of subsoil and bedrock.Remaining boulders in the area were carefully examined for milling, even on the sides andundersides where access was available. Most of the boulders in the area show clear scarsfrom heavy equipment movement and all appear to have been relocated. No evidence ofbedrock milling or any associated site material was found to remain. Site CA-SDI-9238 wasdestroyed either during construction improvements to Los Coches Road or the nearby earthenburm along the creek. No remaining cultural material could be identified and none isanticipated based on the extent of grading in the area.
The cultural resource survey did not identify any cultural resources within the project area. The project lacks integrity and has been heavily disturbed in the past. Despite the presenceof a previously recorded site, no remaining resources were identified after thoroughinvestigation.
Sincerely,
Andrew PignioloAuthor/Principal InvestigatorLaguna Mountain Environmental, Inc.
