Nearpod

Nearpod helps teachers create interactive presentations that can be accessed from a mobile device or computer. Teachers can add polls, videos, open ended questions and quizzes into their presentation. From the mobile device, a teacher can launch the presentation and students can access on their device and answer the question prompts.

1. Inside the app, tap Login or sign up with Nearpod on the main screen. 2. Complete the form.

Create a Presentation

1. From the computer, go to Internet Explorer and open Nearpod http://www.nearpod.com

2. Log into your account. 3. Click Create Presentation. 4. Click New Presentation.

Start from scratch: Create a presentation in NearPod. See the next section for more information. Browse my files: Grab a presentation from your computer. Must convert a PowerPoint file to PDF. From Dropbox: Connect your Dropbox account to Nearpod to access files

Once you double-click on a slide, you can edit the slide. Use the button to add text, image and audio.

Click Add Slide from the menu to add a slide. A box appears for you to choose the type of page.

Slide Show: Include images in a slideshow. Poll: Add a poll to gather feedback from students. Open Ended Question: Gather feedback from students in an open format. Quiz: Create a quiz. Video: Add video from your files. Draw It: Drag an image file to the slide. Students can interact by drawing on their device and the teacher receives the feedback. Web Page: Add a link to a web page.

Add a presentation

Add a presentation from your files or from Dropbox. Your file must be a PDF document. If you created a PowerPoint presentation, go to SAVE AS in PowerPoint. Click on the drop down menu below the file title, Save As Type. Choose PDF.

Click Save.

1. Add your file to Nearpod by choosing Drag your file here or Browse my files.

2. Your slides will appear on the screen. 3. Click on a slide and drag the slide to change positions. 4. Add “Nearpod” interactive content like polls and quizzes by

choosing the + or Add Slide buttons. 5. Add a poll, quiz, open ended question, drawing, or video. 6. Once complete, click Done. 7. A box will appear. Click Yes to publish the presentation. You will then see

the presentation on your app. If you need to make changes, you will need to publish again.

Activate your presentation

1. Open the Nearpod app and log in. 2. Choose My Library. 3. Tap the presentation to open. 4. Three options appear.

Launch: Begin your presentation. Homework: Allows students to view the presentation at their own pace. (Upgrade feature.) Share: Send an email.

5. Tap Launch. 6. Provide the pin number to students. 7. Students can log into Nearpod using the Pin number. 8. Advance the presentation by swiping your finger right to left. If you tap on

a slide in the bottom slide view pane, students will not see the slide as you are in preview mode. Click the Share button to present the slide to students.

Using the NearPod Features You can add interactive features to your presentation including a poll, quiz, open ended question, drawing or video. See instructions in Add a Presentation. Once you launch the presentation on your App, notice the difference in the slides with the interactive elements. For example, the poll screen provides the student name and ID#. As students add information, your iPad screen will show the changes.

Student Access to Presentation Students can download the Nearpod app on their device (Android or Apple). Launch your presentation on your mobile device. Tap the student box and enter the Pin #. The Pin # can be found at the top of the teacher slide presentation. Once students enter a Pin #, they can complete name and ID information. Nearpod presentations can also be accessed from any computer with a web browser. Go to http://ws.nearpod.com/ and students can type the Pin #.

View Reports Once you complete a presentation, tap the Nearpod icon at the top. Choose Reports. A report will be sent to your email account. You may also check reports by going to the Nearpod website and clicking Assess.

Click the session title. From the top toolbar, click Downloads. Choose format pdf or csv (Excel).
