National
Debating
Competition
Trinity School is looking for some
enthusiastic Year 7, Year 8 and Year
9 students to represent the school
in a prestigious National Debating
Competition this year! The
competition itself will take place at a
very exciting (and so far) secret
location and only three students will
be chosen to debate on our
behalf. Until that point, we hope
that everyone in the Debating
Team will take part in a series of
friendly competitions against each
other and hopefully some other
schools too! The Debating Club will
begin its training on Wednesday 8th
November after school in L2 with
Miss Collis and Dr Barford. We
hope to see lots of you there!

Faraday House

from Kent,
Surrey & Sussex
Air Ambulance
Trust
Mr. David Mantz with the Faraday
House Captains, Stars, Head Boy,
Head Girl and Mrs Hussey
Faraday was delighted to welcome
Mr David Mantz to their House

how the Trust came into being.
Faraday have chosen KSS Air
Ambulance as one of its charities
this year.
Last week Faraday heard about the
life saving work of their second
chosen charity, Great Ormond
Street Hospital. Mrs Hussey spoke
from personal experience praising
the amazing care and expertise that
GOSH gave her son when he was
born critically ill.
Faraday are busy preparing for their
House Day in November and have
numerous ideas to raise vital funds
for these worthy causes. Please
support Faraday’s charities by
buying raffle tickets and sending in
donations for their stalls. Further

Tanzania
Training
Weekend On 14th – 15th October a group of
20 students stayed at Hope Hill
camp site, to take part in a training
weekend, for their upcoming
expedition to Tanzania. Students
took part in a range of tasks to build
skills that would be useful in
Tanzania. This included team
building activities, for example being
led blindfolded through a wood
practising their communication skills
to tackle the obstacles that they
faced. They also went on a trek to
develop navigational skills and even
learnt how to carry each other on a
stretcher, just in case there was an
accident. Students also managed to
feed themselves by cooking all their
meals on a trangia. It was a great
weekend and we all look forward to
our upcoming expedition.
Information for
Parents It has been brought to our attention
(notification from other Kent
Schools), that use of prescription
medication e.g. painkillers, anti-
depressants etc. for recreational use
by young people is on the increase.
We would ask you, as parents,
along with ourselves to be aware of
this issue, to be vigilant and to
discuss the dangers of such misuse
of medication with your children.
Uniform
Clarification
Within our school uniform policy, it
states that “one pair of silver or
gold stud earrings may be worn in
the ear lobe only (one in each ear of
no more than 4mm). No earrings
are allowed in the upper or inner
ear. No other piercings are
allowed.”
It appears that there has been
confusion regarding an earring in
the upper or inner ear with
students thinking that this was
acceptable. We wish to inform you
that after the October half term
holiday, all students will be told
remove any earring that is in the
upper or inner part of the ear.
Our uniform policy also states that
hair “must not be ‘extreme’”. This
would include very short haircuts,
for example, a number one.
Message from
Mrs Goulter
I would just like to say goodbye and
good luck to everyone at Trinity
School and would like to wish all
the students, every success in their
futures. Remember: there is no
shortcut to success, you have to
climb the stairs. I have enjoyed
working with you all and hope and
pray that you all continue to strive
to be the best that you can. Mrs S
Goulter, Pastoral Manager

Wall of Fame Does your child play sport to a high,
competitive level outside of school?
Do they want their sporting
achievements to be celebrated in
the Trinity PE Department? Our
new Wall of Fame is designed to
celebrate all the sporting excellence
our students achieve outside of
school. Please send in your photos
and if possible a note. For further
details please contact Mr Roylance
Changing Rooms After half term, all students will be
expected to get changed within the
duration of a song (maximum 5
minutes long). The music will play
between both changing rooms. At
the end of the song the changing
room monitor will advise staff if
students are ready.
If students are going outside for PE
they are to vacate and enter the
changing rooms via the fire exits.
We will be asking students to fold
up their uniform and place it in their
kit bag. If kit is found in the
changing room it is then stored in
our lost property which can be
located on the Lower Ground Floor
or PE wash room. It is very
important that your Child’s PE kit is
named. Your co-operation is
appreciated.
Extra-Curricular Kit Unfortunately, due to lack of
interest, we are unable to proceed
with the order for extracurricular
kit. As our kit is bespoke we need
to ensure a minimum order is
obtained. We will be looking to
reorder next year in time for the
next academic year.

Chaplaincy “Look here, you who say, “Today or
tomorrow we are going to a certain
town and will stay there a year. We will
do business there and make a profit.”
How do you know what your life will be
like tomorrow?”
James 4:13
Sometimes it is hard to make plans
for the future, when at any moment
things could change. However, at
Trinity we have been looking at
God’s plans for our lives in worship
throughout the week and we have
heard some very thought provoking
ideas from staff and students. Mr B
Williams spoke in worship and
reminded us of the Fruits of the
Spirit and how God’s plan for us
might not be what we do but who
we are.
Giving thanks for:
A fantastic Sixth Form
Open Evening and all who
made that possible
Our fantastic students,
especially all our student
leaders
Praying for:
All those around the world
who have been affected by
natural disasters
A wonderful, safe and
restful half term for all
Many thanks and God bless,
Alice

What is counselling?
The opportunity to talk about
things that are of concern to
a child or young person in
confidence with a qualified
counsellor.
What is spoken about will
depend on the individual but
common themes are stress,
relationships, change, loss
and distressing or traumatic
events.
What does a counsellor do?
How long will counselling last?
Counselling may be for about 6 weekly sessions but can be extended. This can be reviewed
between the counsellor and the child or young person.
Where and when does it take place?
A private room is used at YMCA Tower House, Vale Rise, Tonbridge TN9 1TB.
Map at www.WestKentYMCA.org.uk/tower Sessions last 40 minutes.
How much does a session cost?
First appointment FREE, then sessions cost up to £30 - depending on circumstances.
Is it confidential?
A key feature of our service is that information discussed in the counselling session is treated
confidentially. Counselling is a time when it’s OK to talk about concerns without fear of them
being discussed elsewhere. This includes not discussing anything with parents, unless the
child or young person requests or gives consent for this. This can be hard for parents to
accept at times, but ensuring confidentiality of our work is crucial to establish trust so
children and young people feel confident to speak openly and freely about what is concerning
them. However, if a client appears to be at risk of significant harm it may be appropriate to
seek help from other agencies to keep them safe. The counsellor would aim to discuss this
first with the client concerned. The counsellor receives regular supervision of his/her work to
ensure quality of their practice - and this is also confidential.
