Logon Information

1. Open Internet Explorer, navigate to CCS homepage, and click on NC WISE link. 2. Click on Logon. 3. Type in your Username: jane_doe 4. Type in your Password: ****** 5. Type in the Database: lea821 6. Click Connect.

Security • Passwords must remain

confidential • Owner of the password is the

responsible party • Usernames and or passwords

must not be displayed • Do not attempt to logon more

than twice. On the third attempt you will be locked out

of the system • Do not forget your password

• You will be prompted to change your password every

90 days.

Class Changes Notification Screen

The following screen may appear. It informs you of changes to your class

roster or changes in the student schedule.

Place a check in the “Read?” column and click the “Read?” button. This acknowledges that you are aware of these changes. This screen will only appear if there are changes in the teacher roster or student schedules.

1. Verify teacher name is in the menu bar 2. Select the class. 3. Click Set Up Options button.

Gradebook Set Up Options

1. Click Preferences, then OK.

My Options tab 2. Mark Calculation Method is Total Points. 3. These are checked: √ Use assessment weights

√ Use assessment type weights √ View Report Cycle Weights

4. Failure Threshold is 70.

Other Settings : 5. Allow Shared Access to Student Progress When checked lets other teachers view marks of shared students. 6. Rounding Marks is checked. (state mandated- DO NOT uncheck) 7. Count Blank Marks as Zeros Checked- blank cells in gradebook count as zeros against the student Unchecked- blank cells are exempt (like omit)

9. Type General in the Details for Prep box. 10. Click on the Select Classes button and click on all content classes. 11. Report Cycle is set by default. 12. Prep Category is set to Academic. Check the Default? box. 13. Click on Add to select your Prep assessment types. Check all assessment/assignment types you might possibly use. Click OK. 14. Weights should all be set to 1. 15. Click on the Save icon and Exit.

16. Click on the My Comments tab. 17. Click the Add button. 18. Type in your own Code number and Description. (for Progress Reports) 19. Nothing needs to be done in School Mark Scale, as it is set by default. 20. Click the Save icon and Exit.

21. Verify Class. 22. Select Reporting Term using drop down arrow. 23. Category is Academic. (might need to select from drop down) 24. Click the Assignment Types arrow. (Assessment Types.) 25. Click on the type of assignment/assessment from the list. 26. Click Add Assessment button.

27. Type the Name of the Assessment. 28. Press the TAB key to get Short Name. Accept or change Short Name. (maximum 5 characters) 29. Score Type: Alpha for Elementary. Numeric for Middle and High Schools. 30. Accept or change Score Max, Weight, and Extra Credit. 31. Category is Academic. 32. Click to select Assessment Type. 33. Type in Assignment/Assessment information in Narrative box. 34. Parent Tips not available at this time. 35. Type in Dates, if desired. 36. Click Save icon and Exit if you are NOT entering marks at this time. 37. Or click Enter Grade/Comments to record marks. Then Save and Exit.

This teacher has entered marks for 4 assessments/assignments. She also has 2 assessments set up to enter marks at a later time.

Color Legend: Late Mark, Fail Mark, Exempt, Extra Credit, Over Maximum are color coded in the gradebook. Remember to Save and Exit.

The Student Name appears as does the Name of the missing Assessment. Students missing multiple assessments will appear for each missing mark.

Remember to Save and Exit.

4. Select Class from drop down. (Click Multiple to select more than one class. Click OK after Adding classes.) 5. Select Report Cycle from ?. 6. Category is Academic. 7. Select Student : Select students using the ADD feature from the screen that appears. You may also REMOVE students. Click OK. 8. Select the Assessment From Date and To Date from the calendar that appears after clicking on the +. Click OK. 9. Check all boxes that apply. 10. Message to Parent will appear at the bottom of each Progress Report. 11. Portrait should be selected. Click on the Printer icon.

12. Progress Reports will open as a pdf in a separate window. (through Adobe Reader) 13. Click the Save a copy icon to save the file on your computer. 14. Click the Printer icon to print Progress Reports. 15. Close the browser. You return to the Progress Report screen. 16. Click on the door to Exit.

TA Gradebook: Post Marks To Report Card

1. From the Gradebook screen, click on Post Marks to Report Card. 2. Click Yes in the Warning dialog box. 3. Elementary post by Alpha. Click OK. 4. Middle and High schools post by Numeric. Click OK.

1. Click on Printer icon if you want to see a marks list by student. It is the same information that appears below. (Opens in the browser using Adobe Reader in pdf format.) You may save a copy. Close the browser. 2. Click on Save icon and Exit. 3. The school Data Manager will print the Report Card.

3. Click on the button of the Report you wish to create. 4. Follow the prompts.

1. F7 clears data, F8 populates (displays data) 2. Status bar (at bottom left of screen) displays helpful information. 3. When selecting Assessment types in Preferences, check all types of assessment types you might possibly use. 4. When Adding Assessments: change Weight to 2 to count double. (twice) The Narrative could include what the assignment/assessment was, who created, and source. 5. Once the gradebook is posted you can override if a mistake is discovered. 6. Progress Reports are printed out by the teacher, while Report Cards are printed by the Data Manager. 7. DO NOT use CTRL+ALT+DELETE to close NC WISE. Use of this command will temporarily lock the system, and it could take up to 45 minutes for the system to allow access again. Should NC WISE lock up, exit by clicking on the door, clicking on the “X” in the upper right hand corner, or clicking on file, then clicking on EXIT. 8. Remember it is easier to keep up rather than catch up. 9. Always EXIT NC WISE before you leave your computer. 10. Do not give your password to anyone. Someone else could access your records. NC WISE has a built in tracking log and changes in information will be traced to you as the owner of the password and responsible party. 11. Since grades are the responsibility of the teachers, do not allow students or teacher assistants to record grades in NC WISE.
