Automated regulatory and standards compliance checking a Summary

A Partnership
The RegBIM project
s goalis to automate regulation and standards compliance checking as far as any individual project will allowThe RegBIM project
The RegBIM project
BIM is optional; tools work with any construction project, with or without a Building Information Model (BIM)RegBIM
The RegBIM project
Platform Neutral; tools work alongside any BIM package that outputs an IFC file formatRegBIM
The RegBIM project
Every Standard possible; is developing compliance checking against English Building Regulations, BREEAM and the Code for Sustainable Homes initially, but the system could automate any standardThe RegBIM project

Coming soon will be inviting the industry to trial software early in 2014The RegBIM project

a PreviewThe RegBIM project
The RegBIM User Interface will be able to be launched from your BIM authoring software via an integrated buttonThe RegBIM project
Opening the software
A button here
The RegBIM project
Or you can launch direct from your desktop
When launching from the desktop, youll need to identify which BIM file you want to use.
Once opened, you then select which standards or regulations you want the tool to check.Opening the software
The RegBIM project
The RegBIM software presents results in a simple table.
At any point, you can add or remove any regulations or standards from those being checked through the Configure RegBIM button.Initial Category Results

Results can also be presented as a graph for each individual standard checked.
These show three columns:
Total in section
Best achievable score for you

The RegBIM project
The software also shows the overall provisional score achieved so far, as well as the maximum achievable score for your project.Initial Overall Results Graph

The RegBIM project
The software highlights each result that has information missing.
The more complete the BIM used, the less data will be shown as missing.
Information required is always shown under the Warnings banner
Additional information can be added directly against any of the highlighted warnings.Add Information via Warnings
The RegBIM project
The software also allows each individual topic to be explored.
Selecting Information allows you to explore exactly how each topic has been scored, and see what relevant information is missing.Add Information via Trees
The RegBIM project
The software also allows each individual topic to be explored.
Selecting Information allows you to explore exactly how each topic has been scored, and see what relevant information is missing.
The software produces a tree diagram of all the requirements for the individual topic.
This allows you to navigate through to the best possible outcome sequentially.
Information added is kept in a supplementary IFC file.Add Information via Trees
The RegBIM project
Of course, information can also be added directly into the primary BIM data for the project.
Uploading the new IFC file containing the new data will allow the software to run checks using the new information.Add More Information via BIM
The RegBIM project
The software is available throughout the project development.
This means you can use it repeatedly to gradually build up compliance as the information becomes available.
Every time you open the software, it remembers your last settings to allow you to quickly re-check compliance for previously selected standards or regulations.Design Development
The RegBIM project
Since the software is available throughout the project development, you can keep track of information which is definite, and which you might need to go back to and check later,
This allows you to generate a estimated result without having finalised everything in your BIM.Certainty & Uncertainty
The RegBIM project
After installing the software, the initial configuration only involves mapping the software to the correct server.
This mapping will be assigned to you by the RegBIM provider.
Adding the mapping allows the software to access the server-based calculation engine and run the software.Setting Up the Software
The RegBIM project
The software can also be configured to cope with any unique naming conventions used.
For example, if the industry standard name is Swimming Pool but you call it SPOOL, this can be added.
Adding unique naming conventions allows the software to find relevant data in the BIMSetting Up the Software
The RegBIM project
When youre content, the software can generate a provision result.
This result is obviously dependent on all the inputted data being accurate.
The software itemises all the warnings upon which the result is dependent.Provisional Final Results
