The Namibian Broadcasting Cor-poration (nbc) is grabbing the New Year by its horns with the introduc-tion of its latest channel, THISTV. The nbc Digital Decoder currently hosts six channels, nbc 1, nbc 2, nbc 3, One Africa Television, TBN as well as EDU TV. Bringing the tal-ly to seven channels with THISTV. A channel for all the music loving Namibians.

THISTV is a 24-hour urban mu-sic channel in Namibia. The chan-nel is widely available throughout Namibia on the nbc digital decod-er, channel 107. The channel will be lined up with programs such as ‘THIS is Y2K’, showcasing hit music from the year 2000 onwards, ‘THIS is Rap’ will be your weekly dose of your favorite international and local rap songs from then and now, ‘THIS is Local’ to provide the finest local hits from Namib-ia’s greatest musicians and so much more ranging from the latest in kwaito music to gospel, jazz, Ca-ribbean and the latest sounds from all over the world!

With the dawning of the Ana-logue Switch Off set for 31 January 2015, nbc Chief Commercial Offi-cer, Alex Shimuafeni said, “In or-der not to miss out on this exciting channel, you are reminded to get yourself an nbc Digital Decoder.

I further urge the public to pur-chase their decoders as Windhoek, Okahandja and Rehoboth will be the first towns affected by the switch off on the said date.”

One of the many advantages of owning an nbc Digital Decoder is the ability to view more channels. Viewers can look forward to many more channels compared to the single nbc1 channel with analogue television. The television programs are broadcast in much higher digi-tal quality with the inclusion of all nbc radio programs. Furthermore, the decoders have the ability to re-cord, playback, pause and rewind

programs using the USB record facility.

The new channel will officially be launched on 05 February 2015 at Nice restaurant, 18H30 and is the brainchild of Lownan Nangombe, also known as the lyrically talent-ed Wambuseun, who resigned as an nbc employee to pursue this venture. Mr Shimuafeni continued, “Just like with Lownan, the nbc is open to cooperate with any entre-preneur who is interested in be it owning a TV channel, selling nbc Digital Decoders or any other inno-vative ideas.”

THISTV is set to be the num-ber one music channel in Namibia as it brings a wide variety of pop-ular urban music and many differ-ent show formats including docu-mentaries, reality television, music chart shows, text shows, and count-downs. The channel is dedicated exclusively to local and internation-al urban music (hip hop, rap, R&B, Dancehall, reggae, kwaito and Afro pop), Electronic dance music, and chart music respectively, with the occasional alternative rock.
