LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome to NAWN's 13th Annual Charity Fashion Show! Whether you have attended previous years or this is your first time as our guest, I am certain you will find today an enjoyable and inspirational experience. We have fantastic food, fashions, and fun for you, all in the name of a very worthy cause!

NAWN exists to provide a network for all women who live, work, or have an interest in New Albany and works to enrich and foster a united community through social, charitable and community outreach opportunities. We are in our 14th year of working to support the New Albany community and surrounding areas, and have raised over $750,000 for a variety of charitable causes. Every year, the committee working tirelessly on the show falls head over heels in love with the beneficiary, and this year has been no different. You will adore the wonderful work done by the YWCA Family Center as much as we do. I am certain of this.

The YWCA Family Center provides emergency and critical services to stabilize homeless families in central Ohio. A national model, more than 70 percent of their families find housing within 25 days of entering the program. To assist families with rapid rehousing, they offer a breadth of services under one roof, including childcare so that parents can spend their days searching for jobs and housing knowing their children are in award-winning childcare programs. Proceeds from the Fashion Show will establish the New Albany Women's Network Fund for Young Mothers to provide essential items for the children of homeless mothers who enter the Family Center.

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT, cont.

On behalf of NAWN, I would like to extend a sincere thank you to this year's Fashion Show Chairs- Keara Bingman, Brenda Khoury and Lynn Howell. These ladies have given endless hours over months and months so that we may all enjoy this lovely afternoon. As you can imagine, they could not have done the work alone, and the committee members deserve recognition for their efforts as well.

Additionally thanks are due to our wonderful sponsors! Many thanks to Lori Benseler, Senior Executive Director with Thirty-One, ETCETERA, Executive Wardrobe Consultant, Colleen M. McNutt and RG Barry. Today is also made even more special by both Lauryn Byrdy Photography and Discover Allure Skin Centre. Of course we would not be able to even have a show without all of the wonderful donors of clothing. Many thanks and much love!

Today's event is filled with delicious food, a fabulous silent auction, fun raffles and of course a show brimming with all of the latest and greatest runway fashions. We hope that you will enjoy these amenities while recognizing the spirit of the day: to support those in need of services at the YWCA Family Center.

Enjoy the afternoon and thank you for celebrating NAWN's 13th Annual Charity Fashion Show.

Fondly,

Christy ArenschieldPresidentNew Albany Women's Network

THE NEW ALBANY WOMEN’S NETWORK

The New Albany Women’s Network (NAWN) was established in 1998 in an effort to bring women together throughout New Albany. The founding members created the network to share information and resources, build friendships, and help create a strong, inter- connected community. Since its inception, NAWN has grown from its founding group of seven members to over 300 women, working together toward a similar goal: Creating a Strong Community. NAWN is proud to be entering its fourteenth year as an organization and the thirteenth year hosting our Charity Fashion Show. The initial concept has changed since its creation in 1999, moving from a Preview Luncheon for our Rummage Sale, to one featuring the latest spring fashions from local retailers. The Fashion Show has raised over $100,000 in support of our past beneficiaries: Lives of Discovery Lecture Series, The Hope Fund of Hope’s Boutique, CASA of Franklin County (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children), Huckleberry House, CABF, The Neighborhood Nest of Columbus, Directions for Youth and Families and Amethyst, Inc. This year we are pleased to support the YWCA Family Center. Thank you for joining us today as we celebrate NAWN’s goal of Creating a Strong Community. We hope you enjoy today’s event.

OUR BENEFICIARY

The YWCA Family Center

Funds raised at the 2012 NAWN Fashion Show will support the creation of the NAWN Fund for Young Mothers at the YWCA Family Center. The YWCA Family Center provides emergency shelter and critical services to stabilize homeless families in central Ohio. A national model, more than 70% of the families served find housing within 20 days of entering the program. Each family is assigned a family advocate who assists with housing, job counseling, and services for children.

The NAWN Fund for Young Mothers will allow the Family Center staff to provide material assistance to young mothers who often arrive without any of the items they need to care for their babies and young children such as clothing, formula, or bottles. Community groups generously provide diapers and other items, but sometimes the Family Center does not have the specific size or item needed. Through the NAWN Fund for Young Mothers, the Family Center staff will have the necessary resources to provide for those most in need.

In 2011, the YWCA Family Center served 914 families and 1,763 children. 50% of the children were below the age of 5. 78% of the adults were female. The average annual income of the families was just $6,144. The most compelling statistic? 95% of the families served by the Family Center do not require services again.

Thank you for generously supporting this life-changing organization! For more information about the YWCA Family Center, visit www.ywcacolumbus.org.
