QUICK SEARCH

For a Quick Search, enter keywords into the search box and choose to

search by words or phrase, author, title, subject or series by clicking on the

relevant button.

Remember that the catalogue will search exactly what you input, there is no

“smart” searching. If you enter a search with spelling errors, the catalogue

will not correct your spelling for you or suggest alternatives, it will search for

the word(s) as exactly as you have entered them. For additional search

options, click on Advanced Search. Return to Top Menu.

ADVANCED SEARCH

An Advanced Search offers additional options to limit your search. Using the

drop-down windows, combine different search words using the Boolean

operators and, or and not (ex. sustainable and design; land art or environmental

art; kinetic not calder).

You can also limit your search by item type, location and publication year. Results

are sorted New to Old by default, but other options are possible, such as by

author. Return to Top Menu.

CATALOGUE RECORD

By looking at the Catalogue Record, you can quickly link to a list of other work by

the same author as well as browse other search words which may be of interest.

Browsing catalogue records can be very helpful in brainstorming potential search

keywords.

For example, when looking at the catalogue record for the book Art or Sound by

Germano Celant, browsing the subject terms will prompt you to consider

alternative search words and combinations such as: art and music, musical

instruments and art, sound installations, multimedia etc.

You can use these alternative search words in a new search, or click on each

individual search (subject/author/artist) term. You can also try clicking on Find

more on these topics to generate search results based on the first five terms in

the below list. Return to Top Menu.
