ltl-~!~,I EMPLOYEE IDEAS BENEFIT FOR THE NAVY

The Department of the Navy Suggestion Program is designed to recognize employees or groups of employees for ideas that benefit the DoN through cost avoidance or cost savings.

To recognize a suggestion, it must be submitted no later than one year after implementation of the idea. The program operates on the assumption that employees are closest to their work and, therefore, in the best position to find new and better ways to improve it. Civilian employees are encouraged to look around the workplace for ideas.

A suggestion will be considered if the contribution is a constructive proposal. Here are a few tips to help:

* Concentrate on what you do best. * Pick a situation that needs

improvement. * Get all the facts, then analyze

them. * Turn loose your imagination. * Evaluate your ideas with your

supervisor. * Write your suggestion and identify

any savings in time, labor, equipment, materi41, space and money.

Submit your suggestion on form OPNA V 5305/1 (5-80) to CPO, Code 2124 or call Martha Ramirez, extension 3277, for more information.

Round 'em up. Move 'em out. The Giving Wagons are back.

The fifth annual Giving Wagon food drive will get under way Saturday, November 7. Volunteers will be bringing their wagons door-to-door through La Mesa to collect canned or dried foods, paper goods, baby products or personal hygiene items between 9 and 11 a.m.

The Giving Wagon was created four years ago by the OSSC to help feed the hungry and homeless of Monterey. It has been a huge success in the past. The thousands of cans of food and other items collected enabled local shelters to stock their pantries and feed hundreds of people for over a week during the busy holiday season.

If you're moving in December, don't forget to save any canned foods or nonperishable items. If you won't be home during the food drive on No~ember 7 you may leave your donation in a paper bag

1 1s;:~:ams:zs:1:1:1:.:1:111:111:~111::1111 ARMY/NAVY FLAG FOOTBALL

In the second annual Anny/Navy flag football game played last December the numerically inferior Army contingent upset the Navy by scoring on the opening drive. Anny dominated the remainder of the game.

Were it not for the Navy's three key interceptions deep within their own territory, the Anny juggernaut would have devastated the Navy team.

Can the Navy muster a few good men to accept this year's challenge for the 3rd annual game?

Interested Naval officers should contact Jeff ·Masterson at extension 2116 or 37'.3-7917. Anny officers should contact Steve McKinney at extension 2772 or 375-1121.
