Oligonucleotide 40 has a sequence of 17 bases; its 3 end is modified with athiol group (5-GTAAAACGACGACGGCCAGT-SH-3). The 57-baseoligonucleotide 41 includes a central sequence complementary to 40 andside sequences of alternating A and T bases. Oligonucleotide 42 is a 50-basepoly(A-T) that forms a network structure upon contact with 41. All threeoligonucleotides were mixed with 5-nm Au NPs. The resulting network wasadsorbed onto a mica surface, and the surface was probed by AFM
