They are asked to say which piece of information they found most disturbing or shocking and what they could do about it. Representatives from each group report their ideas to the class.ACTIVITY 2: LISTENING SENTENCE COMPLETIONOBJECTIVE: to complete an exam-style taskCLASS ORGANISATION: individual workESTIMATED TIME: 15 minutesMATERIALS: course book (FCE Gold); CD & CD-playerDESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY: The teacher informs the students about the task , they have to listen to the recording and complete the blanks with a suitable word or phrase. They listen twice to the same recording so as to check and complete their answers. The answers are then checked with the whole class. ACTIVITY 3: ROLE PLAY - AN INTERVIEW WITH A CONSERVATIONISTOBJECTIVE: to role-play an interview with a famous conservationistCLASS ORGANISATION: pair workESTIMATED TIME: 15-20 minutesMATERIALS: course book ( FCE Gold pp. 187 & 189)DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY: The students are told to form pairs and do the task in ex.5 p. 158. They will role-play an interview with a famous conservationist. Student A ( the interviewer ) in each pair goes to page 187 ( to see the questions to be asked ) and student B ( the famous conservationist ) goes to page 189 to see the information s/he will have to use to answer the interviewers questions. The teacher monitorises the pairs and in the end asks one pair to do the interview in front of the whole class.ACTIVITY 4: VOCABULARY PRACTICEOBJECTIVE: to practice vocabulary related to natural wondersCLASS ORGANISATION: individual work, pair workESTIMATED TIME: 11-15 minutesMATERIALS: course book (FCE Gold p. 162 ) & worksheetsDESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY: The teacher gives each pair of students a worksheet with vocabulary exercises. In pairs, students solve the exercises in the course book first and the answers are checked with the whole class. Then, depending on the time left, the remaining unsolved exercises on the worksheets are to be done at home as homework.
