2. TYPES OF ROCKS Rocks are generally classified by mineral and chemical composition: Igneous rocks. Sedimentary Rocks Metamorphic rocks. 3. ROCKS' CYCLE 4. IGNEOUSROCKS Igneous rock is formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava. There are two types: Intrusive igneous rocks. Extrusive igneous rocks. GRANITE Is an igneous rock formed by magma. It's used for building, for instance, in commercial buildings and monuments. Granite is often used in kitchens. 5. SEDIMENTARY ROCKS 6. Sedimentary rock is type of rock formed by sedimentation of material at the Earth's surface and within bodies of water. Clastic sedimentary rocks are composed of silicate minerals and rock fragments that were transported by moving fluids. 7. Sedimentary Rock Building Oviedo's Cathedral is made with limestone, a sedimentary rock. 8. METAMORPHIC ROCKS Metamorphic rocks is the result of the transformation of an existing rock type, the protolith, in a process called metamorphism. WE USED METAMORPHICS ROCK TO BUILD A LOT OF THINGS, FOR EXAMPLE THIS BATHROOM WITH A LOT OF SLATE SINCE MIDDLE AGES WE USED SLATE IN THE ROOFS 9. METAMORPHIC ROCKS 10. BUILDINGWITHMETAMORPHICROCKS One example of building with metamorphic rocks is: Taj Mahal with marble, and we use marble in a lot of bathrooms or kitchens.
