NATO/PfP Trust Fund PolicyNATO/PfP Trust Fund Policy

Established in September 2000 to provide mechanism to assist Partner Nations meet Ottawa Convention obligations Later extended to include:

Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) All conventional munitions Management of the consequences of defence reform

Achievements to date: Five completed projects All projects completed on time, within budget and without any

accidents More than 2 million landmines, thousands of SALW and

thousand of tonnes of munitions destroyed

� Albania destruction of 1,6 million anti-personnel landmines (APLs)

� Moldova destruction of 350 tonnes of rocket fuel oxidizer destruction of 12,000 APLs demilitarisation of 300 tonnes of ammunition

� Ukraine destruction of 400,000 APLs

� Tajikistan Destruction of 1,260 APLs

Completed projects to date:

Aim: Destroy 1.3 million conventional APLs Help Serbia and Montenegro fulfil its commitments under

the Ottawa Convention Make SEE free of APL stockpiles

Status: project launched in October 2004

Lead Nation: Canada/Austria

Contributors: Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Hungary, Netherlands, Norway, Serbia and Montenegro, Switzerland

Budget: EUR 1.7 million
