stThe Law Libraries in the 21 century are confronted with issues involving constantly increasing information overload, changing patterns of resource management, new and growing technologies, specialized needs and expectations of users which are threatening the very existence of the usual functioning of law libraries around the world and have pushed them to the crossroads.

The seminar provides a platform and enables interaction among digital library experts, law students and teachers, researchers, academicians and students for adoption, implementation and utilization of digital libraries and their future implications towards shaping information paradigm. Collection development in the electronic environment offers help and advice on the most complex and difficult issues.

The scope of the seminar will attempt to explore free access to law movement, digital resource management, building library – faculty relationship, importance of copyright and IT act in access of digital resources. The seminar shall also help the legal fraternity to develop skills in access of the legal electronic databases. This seminar will help in developing quality and standard library collection and services for legal education.

The Seminar would have the following sub-themes Library 2.0, Library 3.0 Web 2.0, Web 3.0 Library Portals, Semantic Web Role of aggregators and Consortia in the collection development Digital Rights Management Digital Libraries and IPR Copyright Management : International Efforts IPR and Copy Right issues in Collection Development Open Source Software Open Access Journals and Digital Content Management Free Access to Law Movement Open Access and Copyright Infringement Role, Relevancy and Research: Online Legal Databases

The above sub-themes are only indicative and participants may choose any other topic for research/paper presentation with in the scope of the seminar.

The Seminar shall be organized in the Seminar Hall of the University.

About Madhu Limaye Library

It is proposed that the 2-day seminar will be divided into 6 (six) interactive sessions/focused group discussions. Each session shall be Chaired and Moderated by a Chair & Co-Chair, who shall also present the Theme Paper for that session. Well researched papers received from the participants and scrutinized/accepted by experts shall be allowed for presentation during a particular session.

Madhu Limaye Library is the knowledge center of the university for academic and research activities and has been catering to the information needs of the intellectuals and ignited minds of the university. It houses valuable research collections of legal and social sciences materials, and provides access to numerous online services and internet resources. The library is a two-floor centrally air-conditioned building. The library is facilitating its users through well equipped Digital Lab having 56 thin-clients, Video conferencing and providing access of digital library which has diverse range of online legal and social sciences database. The digital library is accessible from any corner of the campus through its WEB-OPAC. The Library has two Reading sections, separate faculty reading section and photocopy section. Library is providing access of bibliographical database of library materials, electronic database and many other services like back years question papers through WEB-OPAC. The library is fully automated and equipped with CCTV and RFID technology. The library has state-of-the-art facilities and is providing online CAS, SDI, Orientation services etc. to its users. The Library remains open throughout the year except national holidays.

Dr.Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University was established by an Act of Govt. of Uttar Pradesh in 2005, U. P. Act No.28 of 2005 and came into being on 4th of January 2006 to meet up the new challenges in legal field. The university is keeping its pace by achieving its goals; To advance and disseminate learning and knowledge of law and legal processes and their role in national development; To develop in the student and research scholar a sense of responsibility to serve society in the field of law by developing skills in regard to advocacy, Judicial and other legal services, legislation, law reforms in the existing laws and the like; To organize lectures, seminars, symposia and conferences, to promote legal knowledge and to make law and legal process efficient instrument of social development.HOW TO REACH THE UNIVERSITYThe university is strategically well located at a distance of 05 kilometers both from the Amausi Airport and the Charbagh Railway Stattion.
