About ISFO

International Society for Olympiad (ISFO), registered as a non-profit organisation in India and UAE, aims to identify, encourage and promote students with a creative bent of mind and affinity towards the disciplines of Maths, Science, English and General Knowledge. It aims to nurture, & enhance the latent genius in students, through tests & competitive exams of exemplary global quality and standard. ISFO aims to create an army of global learners who challenge the boundaries of existing educational structure & emerge as international olympiad champions. With over 30 years in the field of Education, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Wasil, with a doctorate specializing in Education, is currently with Goldline Education to his credit, Dubai, UAE, as Chief Executive Officer. He has been awarded the prestigious National Teacher Award from Ex.-President of India Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in 2005.

Shikha is currently pursuing her doctoral studies in mathematics education from Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR, Mumbai. She is also a visiting faculty at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad. As part of her research, she has been working with middle school mathematics teachers on their knowledge about students' mathematical thinking.

Christopher Olley - the director of the Secondary Mathematics Post Graduate Certificate in Education, is a graduate level teacher at King's College London. Christopher is a co-author of the highest rated text book series in secondary mathematics in Uganda and has also designed a variety of curriculum and educational support projects for Mathematics.

Yan Kow Cheong, has been active in the Singapore's mathematics scene for over two decades with teaching appointments at the ACS (Independent), NUS Extension, Institute of Technical Education, and Singapore Science Centre. Yan Kow Cheong is the author of Singapore's bestselling Mathematical Quickies & Trickies series.

Dr. Kevin Mahoney is an Independent school curriculum administrator and mathematics education consultant focused on Singapore's elementary math curriculum. First American to earn a doctorate focused on the study of Singapore's Elementary math curriculum.

Henry Ong is managing director at Excel League Pte. Ltd. After a successful career in a Global MNC like Whirlpool, Henry Decided to run Global Maths Competitions like SASMO and SIMOC. Today SASMO is held in 25 countries. Henry is also President of Singapore Scholastic Trust (SST) which offers various scholarships to meritorious students.

Participation Criteria

For School sign up, the school must enroll minimum 50 students,

from classes I to X.

For Schools in India:The registration fee for the Olympiad is `300/- per subject, out of which Rs 20 shall be retained by the school as the honorarium of the invigilator(s). For Schools outside India:The registration fee for the Olympiad is USD 10 per subject, out of which USD 1 shall be retained by the school as the honorarium of the invigilator(s). Study Material: Study booklet is FREE for the students.

The Exam

ISFO provides exams of increasing levels of difficulty, in the subjects of Science, Mathematics, English and General Knowledge to students from grades I to X. Designed specifically to enforce subject knowledge and reasoning prowess, these exams encourage the students to apply the generic concepts learnt in school, in a more creative and applicative manner. The two levels of Olympiad are:

The Preliminary Round

• Each participant is tested for their basic understanding of the subjects.

• Exams are conducted within the school.

• Top 40% of students scoring 50% and above in level 1, qualify for level 2.

The Achievers Round

• The second level posses questions at higher levels of difficulty than the previous one. It puts the skills, memory, talent and knowledge of students to test.

• National Level competition for the top rankers and awards.

The Subjects

It puts to test a student’s understanding of mathematics, the approach they take to tackle a problem, their clarity of thought and most importantly a student’s response to the ever rising difficulty and the determination to solve the problems at hand.

Through our camps we aim to imbibe in our students the curious spirit of an explorer who learns to integrate the discipline of Maths with the entire spectrum of learning.

Science Olympiad aims to turn Science to a practical and innovative concept which can be explorative and adaptive rather than structured.

The Science Olympiad conducted by ISFO aims to recognize the raw scientific fervour and talent within students at formative age. Working in tandem with ICSE and CBSE boards, Science Olympiad aims to test the students not only on their theoretical knowledge of the subject but the creative applications of its concepts as well.

English is not merely a subject but a language. Through this Olympiad, ISFO aims to enrich and deepen a child’s appreciation for the English language and its foundation, Verbal Reasoning and Reading Comprehension. The content of the tests is designed to focus on communication and use of English language, and not restricted to rote learning and grammatical accuracy, only.

General knowledge is the knowledge of broad range of facts about varied subjects in the context of your country and the world around you. This culturally valued, real time information equips students with cognitive skills that focus on attaining and processing public and common knowledge related to current events.
