COVID-19Patient Impact and Hospital Capacity Module Training

Patient Impact and Hospital Capacity Module The Module enables hospitals to report daily counts of:

• Patients with suspected and confirmed COVID-19 diagnoses• Current use and availability of hospital beds and mechanical

ventilators Will enable state and local health departments to gain immediate

access to the COVID-19 data for hospitals in their jurisdictions Data also will be used by:

• CDC’s emergency COVID-19 response• U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS’) COVID-19

tracking system maintained in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Preparedness and Response

Patient Impact and Hospital Capacity Module The Module consists of thirteen data elements divided into two

sections: • Patient Impact• Hospital Capacity

The Module calls for reporting aggregate count data for each calendar day

No patient-level data collection The data can be submitted using manual entry or CSV file Participation is voluntary

Data collection Collect data for each calendar day Data is to be collected at the same time every day and entered

into the application for the date in which the data represent Daily reporting will provide the timeliest data for response

purposes, if daily reporting is not feasible, perform retrospective reporting of prior day(s) data

Facility’s command center may be a resource for providing multiple data fields

Data Entry Summary Data is expected to be collected each day at the same time and reported in

the application for the date for which the data apply Data representing the date for which counts are reported may be entered

retrospectively into the application (data can be entered as far back as January 1, 2020)

Hospital Inpatient Beds is a required field for saving data If you intend to report ‘0’ for a field, please enter ‘0’; a blank field indicates

no data
