1. My Writing Book -- Write a letter to one of your classmates telling him/her what you have been doing for HBL these past three weeks. ---Begin with the date on the top left hand corner of the page. ---Write the salutation followed by a comma e.g. Dear ______, ---Greet your friend, ask about his/her well being ---Describe what you did during HBL for the past three weeks, describing something interesting or an event that made you unhappy and how you overcome it.

---End your letter with ‘Your Friend’ followed by a comma and write your name on a new line below it. ---Re-read your letter to check for spelling and grammatical mistakes. You can login to SLS again to watch the video on letter writing recapitulate on what you have learnt.

There are 3 activities for you to work on this lesson:
1. Lessons from Matisse: Positive and Negative shapes Watch a video and answer some multiple-choice questions
2. Lessons from Matisse: Imagination Watch a video and answer some multiple-choice questions
3. Hands-on Activity: Pretending to be Matisse Watch a video giving instructions on how to go about the hands-on activity this week.
Dear parents,
The purpose of the lesson this week is to get students to apply the learning points
from Matisse into their art-making process.
1. The use of smaller shapes to create the desired shape they want. 2. Not to limit themselves to only using positive shapes. 3. Have fun with imagination
Matisse was confined to his wheelchair at the point of art-making because he was
ill with cancer. Due to the limitation of his movement, Matisse got his assistants to
pin his cut-outs on the wall through verbal instructions and actions. Your child will
pretend to be Matisse and approach you to be his/her assistant to paste his/her cut-
outs in their sketchbooks. Please supervise your child when he/she is using the
scissors and be the assistant for your little artist to paste their cut-outs in the
sketchbooks via their verbal instructions and actions. But please do not do the cut-

outs for them as it will defeat the learning intention set out for your child. If it is
unsafe, get them to use the tearing method instead.
After they are done with the artwork, they will write a reflection and evaluate their
artwork with a checklist. I will need your help to take pictures of the...
