National Centre of Excellence in Geology (NCEG), University of Peshawar (UoP) is an institution of higher learning and research in geosciences. The NCEG addresses important issues related to energy, mineral, water resources, geotechnical engineering and much more. The geoscience competencies and technological know-how are fundamental in research-oriented exploration and production activities of economic deposits and sustainable management of natural resources. In this regard the NCEG has wide range of research strengths including geochemistry and mineral deposits, petroleum prospects, geophysical exploration, engineering problems, earthquake, tectonic and structural geology, stratigraphy and sedimentology, environmental and geospatial sciences. The NCEG has been successful in establishing state of the art labs with wide range of equipment in the field of earth and environmental sciences. Laboratories are the places where one can see science in action and where research is performed that leads to various scientific conclusions whether be about various phenomena of our earth, its environment, or its various resources like minerals, water, oil and gas. The NCEG labs can provide services and consultancies to academia, industry and government sectors regarding exploration and production of minerals/gems, petroleum/coal, construction of dams, roads, buildings and other infrastructures etc. Our labs can generate high class data of international standards, which is obvious from its international publication record in prestigious journals published by the Elsevier, Springer, Science Direct from USA, UK, Canada and China etc.The NCEG has started one window operation for real time facilitation of research and commercial work.
