Sponsorship ProspectusCarbon capture and storage (CCS) is a key technology for tackling climate change by capturing, transporting and permanently geologically storing industrial carbon dioxide emissions. Australia is at the forefront of making CCS a technical and commercial reality.

National CCS Week, from 28 November to 3 December 2010, is a new Australian-based event providing a focus for CCS as an essential part of the global greenhouse gas mitigation portfolio.

The major event of National CCS Week is the 2010 National CCS Conference, to be held Sunday to Tuesday, 28 – 30 November at the Park Hyatt Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

The National CCS Conference will attract high level policymakers, researchers, engineers, economists, environmental NGOs, community leaders and international investors.

The aims of the conference are to:

» facilitate knowledge sharing and networking opportunities between CCS stakeholders, including technical, economic, social and policy issues, and

» raise awareness of CCS among the community and key influencers, including the media

The conference objectives provide significant points of difference to other CCS events:

» a single, national event for the first time

» Federal and State government endorsement and involvement

» authoritative, highly credible speakers

» strong media engagement

» go beyond the technical to include public engagement

» broad involvement including NGOs, students, unions and industry including oil & gas, steel, cement and power generators

» provide an annual focus for Australian CCS projects and R&D for a national and international audience

The conference content will include:

» CCS research and technology

» economic, social and policy issues relating to CCS

» international collaboration and knowledge-sharing

» addressing barriers to global deployment of CCS

» updates on Australian and international CCS projects

» networking opportunities

The conference will consist of plenary sessions by Australian and international invited speakers (with the option of additional meetings during breaks, meals and after hours). An associated exhibition in the function area foyer will be limited to a maximum of 26 booths.
