With a sack of money believed to contain around $10,000, James Bradford, along with his son Samuel, founded the banking house of Bradford and Son’s Bank in 1867. From that day, a tradition of community service, local support, and the building of community was born. The bank remained Bradford and Son’s Bank until May 2, 1910, when the bank received its national charter and ofϐicially became known as The Bradford National Bank. According to records within the State of Illinois, Bradford National Bank is the 11th oldest bank in the state. To commemorate the occasion, Bradford National Bank will host a variety of events in 2017 at each of our four locations, culminating in a big birthday bash Labor Day weekend at the main bank in Greenville, with food, fun, live music and more (see page two). A tradition of service Mr. Bradford set the community service standard for the bank all those years ago, serving in the Black Hawk war, was a member of the Illinois legislature, and served as the ϐirst mayor of Greenville. Since that time, Bradford National Bank has touched hundreds of lives, events, and activities that have led to the growth and prosperity of our communi‐ ties. Fun Facts When Bradford National Bank became a national A Message from BNB President Doug Stroud Happy New Year! 2016 was another banner year for Bradford Na‐ tional Bank. The bank remains ϐinancially sound, as it has since 1867. We contin‐ ue to provide a wide selection of ϐinancial services to our custom‐ ers, including an extensive array of lending services, right here at home. Bradford National Bank once again ended the year as a Bauer Financial 5 Star rated bank, making us “one of the strongest ϐinancial institutions in the nation.” We continued to support hundreds of local causes and organizations in Greenville, Highland, Marine and surrounding communities. Our employees continue to be involved and engaged in local organ‐ izations volunteering hundreds of hours each year. Looking forward, 2017 is going to be an incredi‐ ble year at Bradford National Bank as we celebrate our 150th anniversary—something unique and ex‐ ceptional in the banking world today. We have many events planned in Greenville, Highland and Marine this year to commemorate the occasion, including a big party on Labor Day weekend at the main bank in Greenville. It is our privilege to provide you with all of your banking needs in a safe, secure, environment. We are looking forward to continuing that tradition in 2017. Please contact me directly, if you have any ques‐ tions or concerns in the coming year. Happy New Year Doug Stroud President Continued on page 2
