NAMI Oregon is a statewide grassroots organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals living with mental illness, as well as their families and loved ones.
NAMI offers free classes, support groups, and presentations for all those affected by mental illness, including individuals living with illness and their family members, friends and loved ones.
NAMI programs fill in the information gaps in mental health treatment and support system.

Highlights for 2017
• New Website at www.namior.org.
• Added Family & Friends program.
• Trainers for Familia a Familia.
NAMI Statewide Helpline (2016-17 State Fiscal Year)
• Toll-free Helpline fielded 1,244 calls, emails, and drop-ins.
• Represents a decline over 2015-16. Third year of decline.
• Why? Not entirely sure. Complexity of calls appears to be increasing, however. Web traffic appears to be increasing, too.

2016 Education Survey
• Schedule trainings as far in advance as possible.
• Publicize the training schedule more.
• Wait lists for program trainings; accept entries year-round, alert wait list when training is scheduled.

• Schedule trainings just prior to times when classes start. Trainees teach immediately.
• Address affiliate challenges at state conference or special event.
• Provide ongoing instruction on reporting data.
• Share program data more widely.
NAMI Northwest Walk
• Attendees: 6,000. Fantastic weather.
• $211,466 in revenue.
• If you aren’t walking, you should even if you’re not in the Portland area. (Way to go NAMI Douglas County -- $3,554!)
• 75 cents of every dollar raised goes right to your affiliate.
9th Annual Smith Award Dinner & Presentation
• More than 300 people!
• Sen. Jackie Winters & Dave Underriner, Providence CEO.
Coming in 2018
• Leadership Summit!
• First affiliates will be chartered.
• Family & Friends seminars fully rolled out.
• Short legislative session in February.
• Key Ballot Measure in January.
Standards of Excellence: Two Options
• Independent, nonprofit corporation. Have to meet certain standards, have liability
insurance, D&O insurance, audit/compilation annually, among other requirements.
• Come under state organization. Have to form affiliate advisory committee that acts as
local board of directors, commit to focus on outreach and programs.
