The Order of Service
A Time to Be Born
Willie Earl Nettles was born on October 25, 1950, to the late John and Olivia Nettles in Beatrice, AL. He was the fifth of thirteen children born to this loving union.
A Time to Live
He accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of New Liberty A. M. E. Church where he attended and served until his death. He was educated at Rosanwald School (Greer) in Tunnel Springs, AL, and then joined the U. S. Job Corps in Wisconsin. He later returned home to Beatrice and began working in the Pulp Wood business owned by his father. No stranger to hard work, his career led him to drive trucks for the Monroe County Road Department. His jovial spirit and truck number soon earned him the CB handle, “45”. In 1978, Will began driving for the Monroe County Board of Education. He was a faithful bus driver and quickly became a favorite of the students and parents of Beatrice. The athletic department of J. F. Shields High School relied heavily on his driving skills and tapped him to drive the student athletes of for many years. Even after retirement, his true love for the school system and the Beatrice students led him to continue to drive the bus as a part-time substitute. Will was a member of the Monroe County Educational Support Personnel Organiza-tion (ESPO) , and the National Education Association. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a mem-ber and President of the Natchez Hunting Club. “Big Will”, as he was affectionately known, loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was happiest when surrounded by the laughter of family and friends.

RECESSIONAL
If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane.
I’d walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again.
No farewell words were spoken, no time to say “good-bye.”
You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why.
My heart still aches with sadness and secret tears still flow;
What it mean to love you— No one can ever know.
But now I know you want me,
to mourn for you no more. to remember all the happy times;
life still has so much in store.
Since you’ll never be forgotten. I pledge to you today,
a hollowed place within my heart is where you’ll always stay.
