MESSAGE FROM PAST PRESIDENT
Respected Senior members and Dear friends,
The world is passing through a very difficult and tough times of Pandemic of Covid 19 virus. The whole
planet is standstill. We all are staying in lockdown. I pray to The Almighty, to The God that soon
everything would be alright.
Friends, I was President of IMA Nashik in 2006-07.But then, I was most happy, when I become President
of this prestigious organization of surgeons. Nashik Surgical Society in last April.
Gone are the days when patients would say to Doctors “You are the best judge”. Now patients would
know the different options available to them and would be tempted to take their own decisions.
Technology has arrived in surgical arena in a very big way in a short time. Many options are now
available in treating surgical disease from Open surgery to laparoscopy and now Robotic surgery. Old is
not always Gold and everything at the cutting edge is not the last word. We must continually study the
pros and cons, the efficacy of old and new before discarding the old and embracing the new.
With the introduction of technology, the cost of health care has increased. At the same time, We Doctors,
would be tempted to do defensive medicine to keep off legal threats. That is how the spiral of cost in
today's health care system has gone up.
Keeping up all these new challenges to surgical fraternity in mind, the members of executive committee
have focused on academic activities. We have designed the calendar of year 2019-20 in such a way that it
will cover all these aspects and clinical subjects.
During my tenure, I have tried to deliver the best to NSS. You all have witnessed it. Our Secretary
Dr.Kailash Mogal has summarised all academic and social activities conducted in this year in his report.
This was appreciated at state as well as at national level. Maharashtra state chapter of ASI has acclaimed
it and has declared as the "Best City Chapter" in the presence of President of ASI, Padmashree awardee
Dr. Raghu Ram.
It is my duty to express my sincere thanks to Secretary Dr. Kailash Mogal and Treasurer Dr.Swapnil
Parakh as well as all the members of executive committee. They stood by my side throughout the year to
make each and every activity successful.
I wish to extend my sincere gratitude to Dr. Pramod Shinde who has always been with me. I also express
my sincere thanks to Dr. Narayan Sonawane, Dr. Malegaonkar, Dr. Upadhye, Dr.Govind Kulkarni,
,Dr.Vilekar, Dr.Bhamre, Dr.Nagarkar,Dr Nehete, Dr.Advay Aher who helped me a lot.
While doing this job, if I have hurt anybody unknowingly apologize. What I can say is that it was
unintentional if at all.
As a member, I will always be available to serve Nashik Surgical Society. I assure you all that I am in
touch with MMC to get accreditation to NSS for academic programmes.Soon it will be done.
Once again, I express my sincere thanks to all the members. I wish all the best to President Dr.
Nandkishor Katore, Secretary Dr. Swapnil Parakh and team.
Long Live NSS!!
Dr.Mahesh Malu.
PAST SECRETARY’S ADDRESS
It is with outmost humility, pride and a sense of satisfaction that I write this message as we come
to the end of our tenure. Our team headed by President Dr. Mahesh Malu, resumed office in
April 2019. It was a big task to continue the good work of NSS which our previous teams had
accomplished. We could see the determination in our president’s eyes to fulfill a vision he had
for NSS, and we all decided to work towards it.
Over the last one year, we conducted 20 CMEs which included 2 Regional CMEs, 2 social
camps and 1 GBM. We had our prestigious Dr. Vasantrao Pawar oration by Dr. Vinay
Mehendale, along with felicitations of senior NSS members. We could also launch our first
official newsletter due to the untiring efforts of Dr. Dilesh Bharambe. WE also went about the
work of relaunching and updating our official NSS website. On the Charity Commissioners
office front, we accomplished a few advances as well, like, submission of change reports and
completing long pending formalities like updation of our official members list, etc. Our efforts
round the year paid off and NSS was awarded the “Best Chapter Award” in Masicon 2020 at
Amravati.
To sum up, I enjoyed my tenure as secretary under the able leadership of our President Dr.
Mahesh Malu and learnt quite a few things from him. We had a dynamic treasurer in Dr. Swapnil
Parakh who stood by me in all situations. I also thank the Executive Committee of NSS who
were always there for all the help, support and guidance. Last but not the least I thank all my
teachers in NSS amd the entire NSS family for bearing with me.
I wish the new team of President Dr. Nandkishor Katore, Secretary Dr. Swapnil Parakh and
treasurer Dr. Vishal Pawar, all the very best for the ensuing year.
Thank you
Dr Kailash Mogal.
