The Challenge
• While Finland communicates well at a Macro level, communications are light on actionable level
• Transparency means improving the visibility of investment opportunities on physical (events, missions, congresses, etc) and digital platforms
• Resources means primarily financial and human resources
AmCham High Tech Committee Baseline Study Project
• We commissioned 4 Aalto students to help us summarize the climate for High Tech growth entrepreneurship
• We designed a 6 point model within which to evaluate strengths and weaknesses of the environment
• We selected 3 focus areas where our members can play a strong role, and set out an agenda for these items
• Program released at the NASDAQ/ OMX ”Brief-on-the-Go” event by AmCham High Tech and Growth Entrepreneurship Committee
3 Point Agenda for the next 12 to 36 months
• Attracting major US-based venture capitalists to become more active in Finland, with the goal of seeing 4 of them eventually set up operations here
• Support entrepreneurship in Finland through grassroots student movements like Aalto Entrepreneurship Society, as well as at the faculty level
• Facilitate exchange of information between large US players’ innovation roadmaps and the Finnish innovation system
