Introduction The Senate from a state had died. The Governor must find a new one. But Jim Taylor had

preferred someone else. His children tried to persuade him that Jefferson Smith was

the one. When the governor flipped a coin, it didn’t land on one side,

it also landed on Jefferson Smith’s paper. Jefferson was chosen as the new Senate of his state.

Rising Action A banquet was made for Jefferson Smith to

celebrate being Senate. When arriving at Washington, Smith had gotten

lost for 5 hours, because he had went to a tourist bus.

Smith meets Saunders. Saunders brought people from the newspaper. Smith told them he wanted to make a camp for

boys. On the newspaper, the made Smith look like a

complete fool. Senator Paine wants Smith to make something.

Rising Action 2 Smith decides to make a bill to build a camp for boys

on Willet Creek. He had gotten help to create the bill from

Clarissa Saunders. Smith was accused of owning the land, where he

wanted the camp. Also got accused for stealing the children’s money. Jim Taylor had bribed people to make Smith look

guilty. Smith had walked out when he was about to defend

himself. He went to the Lincoln Memorial. Saunders had seen Smith at the Lincoln Memorial,

and had told him that he needs to defend himself.

Climax Jefferson Smith almost did a 24 hour

filibuster. People didn’t want to listen to Smith. He demanded a quorum.

Falling Action The Boy Rangers from his state had

made newspapers that Smith was telling the truth.

Other newspaper companies say that Smith his lying.

Jim Taylor tries to stop them. Smith receives telegraphs that

demand him to stop. He faints after.

Conclusion Senator Paine says that Smith was

telling the truth all along, and he was innocent.
