NANOGRO
! NanoGro is the ultimate non chemical solution for clean, clear, odourless water.
! Non-toxic, biosurfactant-based, bacterial growth enhancer
! 100% biodegradable
! Increases cell wall permeability which greatly increases the bacterial growth rate
! Accelerates the breakdown of organic biosolids
! Cost effective

PROBLEMS WITH WASTEWATER TREATMENT 1. Reducing Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) prior to discharge
2. Increasing Hydraulic Retention Time (HRT) in Digesters to maximize
biomass destruction
3. Coagulation / Flocculation (Particles in solution vs. sludge)
4. Controlling Odours
5. Controlling e-coli and other dangerous bacteria
6. Poor Oxygen Transfer (reduced biomass destruction)
7. Biomass Build Up (TSS and VSS) / Sludge hauling Cost Reduction
8. Spiking Loadings that Upset the System
9. Cost of Treatment (ROI)

SOLUTIONS TO WASTEWATER PROBLEMS
COD / BOD REDUCTION
* BOD Balance at 5ppm (and some Phosphorus) = COD utilization rates as
high as 108ppm/h with the average of 87ppm/h (Biological
Treatment of Landfill Leachate)
* Leachate COD % reduction rates as high as 93%.
! NanoGro’s biosurfactant qualities result in improved cell wall permeability which Promotes biodegradation (not from adsorption) onto Powdered Activated Carbon or Air Stripping

HYDRAULIC RETENTION TIME WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
CASE STUDY " The overall average HRTs in the primary digester were 25.8 days in year 1 and 19.9 days in year 2.
Total HRTs decreased by 26.7% while the total volatile solids (VS) loading in year 2 was 57% more
than in year 1. Despite much higher loadings, digester functioning improved by approximately 78%
based on average VS destruction efficiencies of 29% in year 1 and 52% in year 2.
" The quantity of VS destroyed in year 2 increased by about 157%. This all occurred while there was a
malfunctioning gas compressor.
" Supernatant volume was increased by 90.6% all while maintaining high quality discharge.
" 5ppm, 4ppm, 3ppm, 1ppm
Increased HRT = greater potential for biodegradation and a reduction in cell washout.

SOLUTION VS. SLUDGE
NanoGro’s flocculation properties will reduce particulate from continuing on throughout the system in solution. Particulate will be contained in the Primary Clarifier and sent for destruction in the digesters.
! Increased destruction of solids
! Increased supernatant quality and volume
! Increased plant efficiency

ODOUR CONTROL
o Creates a competitive advantage for good bacteria and reduces odorous bacteria and
other bad bacteria such as e-coli
o Reduces odours caused by Hydrogen Sulfide
o Increased cell permeability aids in destruction of e-coli
! Reduces public complaints
! Better work conditions
! Safer discharge water

! Reduces odours from ammonia and
hydrogen sulfide ! Reduces sludge deposits ! Degreases surfaces including sewer
pipes and wet well walls ! Improves digestor functioning ! Improves retention time in digestors ! Increases solubility of fats, oils and
greases by reducing particle size

SLUDGE REDUCTION
o Increase in Destroyed VS% from 28.2% to 52% from Case Study Wastewater Treatment
Plant
o Reduction from 1.05 gTSS/gBOD to 0.58gTSS/gBOD and 0.75gVSS/gBOD to
0.32VSS/gBOD
o Decrease in Sludge Haulage by 36%
o Reduced hauling costs
o Increased HRTs
o Increased Plant Efficiency and Capacity
o Predictable and Stable (no spikes)

FINANCIAL BENEFITS
An increase in overall plant efficiency:
1. Reduced electrical costs (blowers, aerators, mixers, pumps, etc.)
2. Tapping into latent capacity: Current equipment has increased utility and the costs to increase size, capacity of equipment, land, etc. for future needs will be reduced
3. Reduced costs associated with down time, due to heavy loadings and reduced flow/processing capabilities
4. Reduced hauling and dewatering costs
5. Reduced costs and reliance on other chemicals and additives
6. No capital costs: No need for new infrastructure (can be added directly into current system)
