Current Situation of Antibody Industry

In today’s market of pharmaceutical industry, the development of therapeutic antibody drugs,

known as biological missile, is extremely active, but their common characteristics hinder their

way to clinical application and promotion in the market. They are oversized, expensive and too

sophisticated in structure. Nanobody, however, can greatly overcome these shortcomings. It is

smaller in size, better in effect as well as cheaper in price.

What is Nanobody?

Nanobody, also called domain antibody or sdAb, is an antibody fragment consisting of a single

monomeric variable antibody domain, and lacking the light chain and CH1 domain of the heavy

chain. Like a whole antibody, it is able to bind selectively to a specific antigen. With a molecular

weight of only 12–15 kDa, nanobody are much smaller than common antibodies (150–160 kDa),

and even smaller than Fab fragments (~50 kDa, one light chain and half a heavy chain) and

single-chain variable fragments (~25 kDa). The first nanobody was engineered from heavy-chain

antibodies found in camelids; these are also called VHH fragments.

Nonobody Service Provided by Creative Biolabs

Creative Biolabs is a recognized leader in nanobody production and single domain antibody

library fields. They are specialized in generating nanobodies against any targets. They also provide

a wide range of services, including construction of immunized single domain antibody libraries

using llama and camel, construction of synthetic camelised human single domain antibody

libraries using DNA synthesis, bio-panning of single domain antibodies libraries and large scale

production of recombinant single domain antibodies. Together with Creative Biomart & Creative

Diagnostics, they provide a large list of nanobodies.

Engineering and Manufacturing of Single Domain Antibody

Once the most potent clones are identified, their DNA sequence is codon-optimized and expressed

in either bacteria cells or mammalian cells. Creative Biolabs is also able to engineer single domain

antibodies in a wide range of formats, including unique multivalent, bivalent and bi-specific

molecules. They are experienced in conducting affinity maturation of nanobodies. Quantitative

library sorting by phage display or yeast surface display is used for improving the affinity of

single-domain antibodies.

Creative Biolabs is a service provider dedicates to supporting customers with a series of the best

designed and qualified Nanobody services, including nanobody library services, nanobody

matration services and nanobosy production services.
