Block Assembly1. Following the manufacturer’s instructions, trace the listed number of each template onto the paper side of the fusible web. Roughly cut out each template about 1/8” outside the drawn lines.

2. Press each template onto the wrong side of the fabrics as listed on the templates. Cut out each template on the drawn lines.

3. Refer to the Figure 1 to arrange and press the (8) assorted wings and (1) butterfly body onto (1) 10 ½” Fabric Q square.

4. Finish the raw edges of each shape with a decorative stitch such as a buttonhole or satin stitch to make (1) Block One square. Using your favorite method, embroider the antenae on each butterfly.

5. Repeat Steps 3-4 to make (4) Block One squares total.

6. Repeat Steps 3-4 and refer to Figures 2-4 for fabric identification and placement to make (4) Block Two squares, (4) Block Three squares and (4) Block Four squares.

7. Sew (1) 1 ½” WOF Fabric I strip, (1) 1 ½” x WOF Fabric Q strip, (1) (1) 1 ½” x WOF Fabric E strip, (1) 1 ½” x WOF Fabric Q strip, (1) 1 ½” x WOF Fabric F strip, (1) 1 ½” x WOF Fabric Q strip, (1) 1 ½” x WOF Fabric R strip, (1) 1 ½” x WOF Fabric Q strip, (1) 1 ½” x WOF Fabric S strip and (1) 1 ½” x WOF Fabric Q strip together lengthwise and in that order to make (1) Strip Set (Fig. 5). Repeat to make a second Strip Set.

8. Cut the (2) Strip Sets into (40) 1 ½” x 10 ½” Unit 1 strips (Fig. 6).

9. Sew (5) 1 ½” Fabric O squares and (4) Unit 1 strips together end to end and alternating them to make (1) Sashing Row (Fig. 7 below). Repeat to make (5) Sashing Rows total.

10. Take (1) 3 ½” Fabric F square and fold it in half across (1) diagonal, wrong sides together (Fig. 8). Press. Fold the Fabric F square in half again and press to make (1) Fabric F Prairie Point (Fig. 9). Repeat to make (12) Fabric F Prairie Points total.

11. Repeat Step 10 to make (12) Fabric R Prairie Points, (12) Fabric L Prairie Points, (8) Fabric E Prairie Points, (8) Fabric D Prairie Points, (8) Fabric I Prairie Points, (8) Fabric H Prairie Points and (8) Fabric O Prairie Points.

15. Sew (1) Unit 1 strip, (1) Block Four square, (1) Unit 1 strip, (1) Block Two square, (1) Unit 1 strip, (1) Block Three square, (1) Unit 1 strip, (1) Block One square and (1) Unit 1 strip together in that order to make Row Four.

16. Sew together the (5) Sashing Rows and (4) block rows, in numerical order, alternating them to make the Center Block.

17. Sew (1) 3 ½” x 45 ½” Fabric Q strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 3 ½” x 51 ½” Fabric Q strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top (Fig. 10).
