Welcome to Week 1, Term 4. We have a very busy term ahead of us with many exciting challenges and

opportunities. Hopefully if the rain stops by Friday, K-6 swimming will start this Friday. All students need to bring

their $3 entry fee each Friday. Don’t forget swimmers, towel, rash shirt and sunscreen. If rain continues, we will

make a decision and notify parents later in the week.

If you have not taken the opportunity to provide feedback to us through the Tell Them From Me Survey, please

follow the link below to do so by the end of next week. We need as many parents as possible so that we have a clear

representation of our community.

Next week we have our combined school/P&C Fair. Our students will be presenting their STEM challenges

as their interactive stalls and the P&C have organised many stalls from community representatives. There

will be food, entertainment and fun for all. If you can help the P&C out with baked goods and to volunteer

with organisation or helping at a stall, they would greatly appreciate this. Our Fair will begin at 1:30pm and

go through until 7:30pm. Any students without parents at the school at bell time will need to go home on

their usual bus. We hope they will then return with parents.

Our Kindergarten Orientation program starts this Wednesday. We look forward to seeing all our 2019

kindergarten students and having an opportunity to meet our new parents that are joining our Nana Glen

Community. This weeks session is from 9:30am – 11:00am. Please refer to the Orientation Program in this

newsletter.

Next Wednesday, we are having a visit from the MGoals representative and invite parents to an

information session on Wednesday afternoon from 4:00pm – 5:00pm, in the library.

MGoals is a program that provides students with opportunities to discover more about their local

community, identity and help to build self-esteem and confidence. It assists students further by bridging

connections and promotes the work being done by community and schools in support of holistic education

including Aboriginal culture and education.

This program is based online and has two aspects: the first is a website building project where we build a

local community website and collaborate with the local Aboriginal community, and the second is an online

goal-setting program where students interact with teachers, parents and mentors to set goals for living and

learning.

For more information visit mgoals website

We look forward to seeing lots of parents next Wednesday afternoon.

Year 3/4 Cascade Camp is coming up quickly. Final payments for this excursion are due 9 November 2018.

Congratulations to our students for their fantastic efforts with our fun run at the end of term 3. Students

raised $2162.55 with our super fundraiser, Scarlet Shelley, raising $1095. If any students still have

fundraising money at home, could they please send it into school this week.

Have a great week!

Mrs D. Nicholls

What’s going well in Class 5/6 What a start to Term 4! Year 5/6 were incredibly busy

yesterday finalising their bookwork submissions for their

STEM projects. Many of these projects will be displayed

and offered to the public to try during the School Fair next

Friday. Over the duration of their STEM projects, students

have created persuasive and informative texts, measured,

drawn designs and kept logs of their weekly progress. One

of the key elements of this project was teamwork. I

encourage all parents to ask their child how well they

worked in groups, what challenges were faced and how did

they overcome these issues. As we all know being able to

work in harmony and productively with others is a life long

skill.
